I’m having a feeling of weakness in my arms and hands. Can anxiety do this?

Arm and hand weakness. I’m freaking out
Yes it can. Hope you get to feeling better
Yes definitely. I used to get pain in my arms too. You'll be just fine.
I used to get this too, but it just seemed to disappear...probably when I started to worry about something else It seems to be a common symptom. Try not to worry, I know that seems impossible....
This can be caused by hyperventilating due to anxiety. Can also be purely psychological - you focus on it so much you can feel it. It is something I have experienced in the past.
Also worth bearing in mind, to try and ease your panic, most serious physiological illnesses that can cause this only affect one side of the body and you would not be experiencing this on both sides if that were the case.
I’d suggest a doctors visit because they are the ones who can give you the ultimate reassurance you need, but I agree with the other people on this post, it could be anxiety, it’s a common problem and I don’t think it’s serious. If you’re anything like me, reassurance from other people will only make you feel temporarily at ease which is why I suggest the doctor. You will be fine, try not to panic.
Thanks to all who replied. That’s why I love this site. So encouraging.
Speechpat, I hope I can reassure you even more When we are anxious we tend
to hold our hands in a fist especially when sleeping. We are never in a relaxed state.
Try making a fist and holding it for just a few seconds and you will feel how weak both the hand and arm feels when you release that grip.
Using some relaxation methods during the day can help in reducing the tight muscles and allowing it to relax. xx

Why is it, do you think that we cannot even relax our muscles when we are sleeping. I suffer with terrible muscle tension all over my body and jaw clenching, but I am so much worse when I wake up, and you'd think sleep would relax you. All the muscle pain makes me unbalanced too.
I just wondered if you'd have time to fever me your opinion on this.
Thanks
Funkyfaerie, as long as our subconscious mind is fed negative thoughts throughout the day, when we fall asleep at night, the mind is playing back every thing that went
on whether positive or negative. It's like a recording that just plays over and over not
allowing the muscles to relax. I use to find myself sleeping in a fetal position, that's how tense I was. And yes, it does throw off your balance. In order to walk straight we can't be holding ourselves rigid. We need to breathe properly and relax our shoulders and walk without fear.
This is where doing relaxation and meditation can help immensely. Using it first thing
in the morning, in mid afternoon and before bed. It can help brush aside all those
negative and fearful thought in our mind. xx
Thank you for reply Agora1
I am finding this all too much at the moment, but I go to bed fearful of the shoulder pain waking me if I sleep awkward, and I fear the mornings with another day of aching. I'm not at a good place at the moment, to the point that I can't relax enough to try meditation....but thank you for explaining the night thing for me. I do hope you are ok, you offer so much peace to others. xx
Thanks pat. I don't know how wise they may be but I've learned by my own
experience what the anxious body can do to us xx
