Advice please : Hi I am really struggling at... - Anxiety Support
Advice please
Yes I would and do take them as needed they are very safe to take as directed. Your Dr gave them to you for this type of situation.
I feel exactly the same and was terrified to take medication but diazepam are nothing to worry about after all they are made to help you relax so take one and chill out 😊 but they are also not a long term thing which is why I’ve just started taking mirtazapine which seems to be taking the edge off of things for me 🙏🏻X
Thanx for your reply , I really appreciate it , I have calmed Dwn a bit now , will take one thu wen it starts agin Thankyou , do you also have problems with your breathing ? I forgotten about ovaltine I will get some an try & I currently drink alit of peppermint tea which relaxes a little , I never heard of mat Haigs I will have little look online now see if I can download the book , anything is worth a try , I honestly don't see any light at the end the tunnel st the moment .. Thanx for replying
Yup my breathing does my head in I overthink it so much when really it does all the hard work itself otherwise we wouldn’t be on here talking ay ? Haha . Anxiety is a real beast but I find that trying to see the humerous side in it and acceptance makes it a bit easier . I’m praying for us both and any one else out there suffering . And yeah seriously reading really helps me . Let me know what you think of his book x
Also try a nice hot milky drink like ovaltine or hot choc that calms me down a lot don’t worry you are not alone ! Also reading ive been reading a lot lately including Matt Haigs reasons to stay alive . It sounds depressing but is really uplifting and hopeful as he was hit with bad anxiety and has come out the other side happy so there is hope for us all 😃x
I'm sorry to hear you are so distressed. I know the feeling!
Look, I'm not a DR but I have been taking many kinds of drugs for anxiety and sleeping for over 25 years. Anyone saying 'you should take them' isn't helpful. It's more addictive than heroin, with horrifying side-effects. Despite being highly addictive and having alarming side-effects, Valium had become one of the world's best-selling drugs by the mid-Seventies. These days, we know more and Dr's are more careful with it.
Please tell your Dr how you feel. Write a few things down if you need help in the office to remember. There are other options like beta blockers that can help with your symptoms. Many actors take them before going in stage. Awful nerves!
There are so many options beyond dizeapam and beta blockers I would be cheating you by pretending I know what they all are. Please ask your Dr and explain how you feel clearly. If Benzodiazepine is suggested (like diazepam) try and take the lowest dose you can.
While you are doing this ask for some other support too like talking therapies as
the wait is long.
Good luck!
Hello, everyone is different. For some people medication is appropriate and, sometimes essential. It's something you need to discuss honestly and openly with your doctor, so that you are 100% satisfied that you have the best option for you. I have been taking beta blockers for 20 years with no obvious side effects and many benefits, so they work for me, but, as I said, everyone is unique, and the internet is full of conflicting advice, which can be confusing. I agree with what others have said about seeking non-medication support as well and, looking at all aspects of your life and diet, to try to make small adjustments that will make you feel healthier and happier. Take care,
Personally I choose not to get medicated. To me it is like having the 'check engine soon' light on your car's dashboard but instead of taking it to the mecanic you just open the hood and cut the cables so you don't see the light. In the case of anxiety medication doesn't deal with the cause.I had out control anxiety to a point that I didn't want to leave anymore, I wanted to die. It's been almost two years sience my last anxiety attack. They are almost 99.9% gone. Instead of feeling sorry about myself I went to the gym, took good care of my diet, no caffeine, had plenty of rest and to me the main thing was MEDITATION. You have to look to yourself and be aware of what trigger your attacks. Forget about the past and the future and focus on the NOW. Nothing else exist but the present moment. Be grateful for the simplest things. Also try to listen classic music or music that bring to you happy thoughts. I get up at 5:00 am to walk my dog and give thanks for the little things.
I bless you and pray for you to find your true purpose because without it there is no meaning!
