Hello I just need some helpful advice I have so much health anxiety right now.
I had noticed an almond shaped boil that was inflamed two days ago. I had not noticed it before but two days ago it was bigger about 2.5cm longways and 1cm width. It was not white it had no pus at the surface or anything so I didn't take it seriously but it was sore and hard underneath and I thought it would come to a head in its own time.
Long story short it has not come to a head the boil has somewhat subsided slowly without it naturally draining and now I am scared it has burst underneath the skin.
I have read on the NHS that there is a chance that bursting under the skin can cause septecemia and now I am so incredibly nervous and my anxiety over health is making me a bit nervous.
I have an appointment tomorrow.
I need a bit of advice or experience on whether this has happened to anyone. Do I have anything to worry about? Has this happened to you? What can I do before the appointment? I am a bit upset really.
Any advice will be helpful.

Hi. Sorry I don't have any experience with boils , however a friend of mine had one that did that & she had to be put on antibiotics for a bit. I don't know if the situations are the same or not, I just remember her saying that. I get health anxiety too so I feel ya!
Hi,I got it checked out by a doctor and they said it wasn't infected or anything. That's relieved me alot as I get so freaked out. Thank you for your comment!
Hi I do feel for you i suffer with health anxiety too so I know your anxiety will be going through the roof right now...but please don't fret does the nurse know you suffer with health anxiety? She should obviously tell you the risks which she has but also tell you the odds of that happening aswell...Have you read the signs of septecemia? Having HA you probably have that spot could of been absolutely anything and I would honestly say 9/10 completely harmless but when we have HA we dwell on it don't we...if I was in your shoes i would go to a walk in Centre or your local A+E JUST FOR peace of mind to reassure you and obviously make sure you are ok which I'm so sure you are? Just ask them if anything can come out of this and could they at least put your mind at ease
Hello thank your your advice. I got it checked out by a doctor and they said it wasn't even infected and because it's slowly going down it should be ok. That put my mind at rest at the moment. Again thank you.
Your so welcome most spots are harmless but when we panic it's best to get checked so glad your ok though
Take care

If it’s shrinking in size it is probably healing itself. But maybe a dr visit would make you feel better. I’ve had several awful ones that I took care of at home. My husband had literally had them a lot. He just doctored them at home. He had to go the dr a couple of times so if you’re scared you should go for your peace mind.
I’m sure you will be ok. I had what lo led like a boil on my inner thigh a couple of months ago. It got bigger as I messed with it and it never came to a head. I went to the Derm and it turned out to be a cyst under the skin. He had to cut it out.
Oh wow that's awful. I still don't really understand mine. The doctors said it was not infected so now I'm confused if this is a boil or not but It's going down so I am relieved. Thank you for sharing your experience.
hopefully your doctor will give you some antibiotics to take to prevent a bad infection...I actually had SEPTIC SHOCK and almost died before so I am scared of it too.....signs to watch for are HOT to touch, FEVER, and fainting....chills etc....I am sure it is not going to come to that....people have boils every day that heal up ...but glad you are seeing the doctor and do ask for antibiotics....to be on the safe side....
That's just horrible that you went through that. I got it checked out by a doctor and he said it was not infected so I am feeling relieved. Thank you for sharing and the advice too. Thank you.
