Hello everyone. Just wanted to know anyone’s opinion on Xanax. I’ve had OCD all my life and been taking Xanax on and off for over 20 years. I was recently diagnosed with severe depression. My Dr has me on pristiq and trintillex. She also has me on Xanax 0.5 3x daily as needed. I find lately that I’ve been taking the 3 a day. I normally only take them when I need to, but recently that’s been every day. I know they can become habit forming, I’ve always been aware of this so I’ve taken extra precaution. I feel that when used responsibly it’s a great medicine for those suffering from OCD and other anxiety related disorders. Thank you. Samson

Sorry to hear of your depression. I do believe the benzos are quite helpful for my anxiety as well, but I, like you, fear dependence! I have probably taken 50 alazaprolam over the past 25 years. I have taken a 1 mg tab and divide it into 4 doses!!! So clearly, I am careful, but I fear the grip of beconing addicted to it. BUT!!I do believe there are clear needs for these drugs.

Are you exercising daily? Engaging in meaningful fun and relationships? Do you practice breathing exercises? Meditation and/or prayer? Spiritual life? Time in nature? I find if I practice these things (especially exercise!) I fare much better!

Try to get away with the least possible amounts, and you will be well on your way!

Oh! Do you ever drink sleepy tea? Chamomile or tried essential oils?

Hello. Thank you. I do exercise every other day. I was a bodybuilder-weightlifter all my life. I have started meditating, even though it can be a bit difficult. I’m going to start going outside for walks instead of the stepper at home. I do pray everyday. I’ve never tried any of those teas but I’ll definitely look into them. Samson

I was recently taken off Xanax due to becoming pregnant, I was on it for over 3 years. And it is a Great medication. I suffer from Panic disorder and It helps me get on with my day. I took it almost every other day. Not going to lie it does become somewhat dependent but it’s not hard to let it go if you have too. Like me who stopped Cold turkey about a week or two ago. I personally love the med. it really has saved me In a few episodes :)

Xanax is great when used as needed. I would not worry about unless you take that dosage for more than a month or so. I had an episode and had to take 2x.50 mg for two weeks and it really helped. I didnt want to take that dosage but the doctor told me to over a period of a month. I now just take as needed.. sometimes just 1 .25mg in the morning and most days nothing at all. I would follow the doctor's recommendation. I take it as needed and I dont think I am addicted to it at all. Its nice to have around even if I dont take it!
