All around the shoulder blade if my left shoulder and up to my neck. Off work with it. Can only just about drive the car buy struggling to look over left shoulder. Paracetamol hardly helping. Today's pain levels are slightly better than yesterday's though.

I think it has a lot to do with stress and anxiety...which of course make me have more anxiety when it hurts...

Also need to watch my posture, I sit at a desk all day so prob doesn’t help.

Consider seeing your doctor and getting a prescription for physical therapy.

When I get this, and I often do, it is usually, a rib out, from stress.

The chiropractor explained why this happens and said that "ribs out" are common.

Takes a few sessions to get total relief.

She is a fan of ICE ICE ICE when this happens.

Im a fan of a hot water bottle.

It is not serious. It is "just" painful.

I can get free therapy through work which will help. In the meantime I will carry on with painkillers and gentle exercises, sleep and take it easy. Being part time helps. I have had this niggling shoulder problem for years just never this bad. The symptoms certainly like to surprise us don't they. Thanks for all your advice I shall try each one.

I know exactly what you mean. I can bareky move when my anxiety is bad. I tend to carry stress in my muscles and they all seized up. I found yoga classes were helpful to stretch them out again.

Yes I did yoga for a few weeks but then I found I was struggling to fit the exercise into my schedule. I hope to restart this soon though when my time is more free. It really did help but I get a bit dizzy wizzy with the moving up and down at times. Just need to learn it properly I think. Thanks.

Well I did a bit more around the house yesterday as pain had subsided to a level I could bare. Today it is a bit sore again. Gonna rest it today. Not much sleep last night with pain and discomfort. Gonna take paracetamol and do some gentle exercises. I really feel it in the neck now whereas before it was more the shoulder and blade. It's true how physical anxiety and depression can be. I am very grateful to your replies as sometimes I feel it is just me who has these horrible and debilitating symptoms. Thanks guys I will follow your advice and put some heat against it and rest. Must stop running the house!

I intend on doing yoga and exercise once my boy is in school in September. Will have more time for me I am hoping.

Still really fatigued in the morning but shoulder pain subsiding. Going back to work today see how I fair. Too hot too the weather doesn't help. Could do with another week really but have to try and push through to keep everyone happy esp work. Can do without another warning! Upped my tablets to 100mg which are probably partly the cause. More in my system.

Omg this is crazy I’m having the same feeling the whole day today it starts from my shoulder down my arm? Then a little chest pain. Which is weird two weeks ago I had a stress test and checked my veins for any clogs the doctor cleared me. But does anyone have these symptoms also?? Please I need advice. 🙏🏻 thanks

I don't have chest pains just the neck, shoulder pains and tension headaches at times. I work in the NHS so the only thing to consider is seeing the doctor to check your symptoms aren't anything more serious. If this on the heart side then this could be a TIA or Stroke. But normally there are other symptoms too to diagnose this. If the docs don't think it's that then it must be tension and stress unless you've injured it somehow in your sleep or something. Let me know x

Yea guess it was a pulled muscle. I had a stress test 3 weeks ago everything was normal. So it can be from sleeping or working out but thanks!

in reply to Vitonyc

If doctors have checked and can't find the problem then it is more than likely a muscle issue. Point it out next time you see your doctor

Look into the scm muscle that attaches to the chest and neck and runs up the sides of your head. If you strain these muscle they can give a whole lot if symptoms and pain on chest, neck, head, ears, jaw, sinuses, mouth, the list goes on, it the worse muscle in the body if you strain it.

It can be fixed with stretching, look up online

Make sure you get it checked by a doctor first.

I went to the massage clinic and got told pretty much all the things you said. It is my trsomething muscle on the side of the neck. It feels much better already but the massage bloody hurt. Worth it though. I now have exercises to do. Apparently my muscle had turned itself off all these years. I now gave a long road ahead trying to encourage it to switch on and get stronger. So pleased. Thanks for your help. You actually knew what you were talking about! Not that I doubted you at all...

in reply to TheBlackdog

Thank-you.

I have had problems with mine in the past and the doctors couldn't figure it out, so I researched and worked it out and how to deal with it.

Stick to the exercises and eventually you will be back to normal. ☺

Thanks. I think I've had it since a teenager but never thought it needed any input until now at 40! It's never too late.

in reply to TheBlackdog

I had it for years too. But it's sorted now, yours will be too ☺

Thanks jimmy for the info!! Yea like today I’m having that pain in my left arm and my fingers hurt too but again it’s gotta be something I pulled. Who’s know I’m not letting it get to me. But thanks for the info I’ll definetly look up scm muscle. Truly appreciate it brother!

So an update is I am not on pain killers and using exercise to help. Had the worst day today. Got told off at work for trivial things and a car accident on the way to work which topped it off. I ended up crying as I always do to try and cope with the little things that build up. Luckily I got control and stayed but wanted to just say f... it and walk out. Annoyed wasn't the word. Wanna change my job but my sickness record isn't the best. Any ideas greatfully received!
