Hi, My name is Barbara..I actually used to be a Social Worker in Nursing Homes Before an car accident in 2001.. severe brain injuries...One of the 8 day bleeds was in my Limbic System so though I have had extensive therapy, I have had to learn about everything all over again..I do run a support group on Facebook, but I always seek to find where I can either listen, help, encourage..I actually had a second accident in 2011 after my divorce, moderate brain injury..After this I took a hold of my life..Sure we have ups and downs, but what do you do with the downs? My most amazing feat, besides having my twins is learning about this Autoimmunity I have because food effects a lot of emotion, pain, overall health and doctors a lot of times treat symptoms, not people..I take things apart, put them back together..l

Barbara, I'm so sorry about the traumatic head injuries you suffered in the car accidents. You're a strong woman who decided to gain back control of your life after the divorce. More power to you. Sometimes a horrific event can open our eyes in how we choose to go forward. I'm a lot like you in that I tend to dissect the problem so I fully understand every aspect of it and then go on to fit all the pieces together like a puzzle. In doing this, it cuts down on anxiety and we don't get stuck but continue to go forward. Looking forward to your support. Welcome to the group. xx

Thank you..I actually have found since waking up from a coma, truly being a better, more complete person, I know it is odd, but true..sometimes things happen to shake up our lives so we look and learn and grow and change.. Have you noticed when a person does not learn a lesson within a circumstance it repeats in different ways until it is learned..Like choosing a guy..Choosing that type, but he may be wrong, always turns out the same way..Life is full of that growth and every person, bad or good, is a gift we learn from..So I just try to find something positive now, from whatever is in a circumstance..

Oh I truly believe that life is a learning experience, from the people we meet to the things that happen to us during a lifetime. I didn't see this right away. It took many years of therapy to finally come to an "aha" moment where everything made sense. Once I applied it to my life, I was able to overcome Agoraphobia *5yrs as well as accept anxiety not as a curse but a red flag telling me my life was not in order.

Live and learn couldn't be truer. That's why I like this forum. We're not only supported and understood but we learn from each other. If it weren't for anxiety, I might never have met so many wonderful diversified people as I have. Again Barbara, it's nice to have someone who has been on the other side of the spectrum in helping people. Take care xx
