Panic and anxiety tips?

Does anyone have tips on how to deal with anxiety and panic? I take meds. I take chamomile. I’ve tried a lot. I feel like I’m at the end of my rope sometimes.

I find that breathing techniques help.. take a deep breath In from your nose for 5 seconds then hold for 3 seconds then breath out through your mouth for 5 seconds.. SLOWLY.. repeat this several times and it may help you as much as it has helped me. Hope this works

Thank you so much. I will definitely try this.

I’ve done breathing exercises as well it helps a lot. Recently talked to a doctor that said breathing through a brown lunch bag helps as well. Nice normal breaths will calm the nerves.

I did it today and it helped a lot

Take a warm bath or get an essential oil diffuser :) they work great, you can get them off of amazon! they are totally worth it! I take melatonin to calm me down sometimes too. I also like looking at positive affirmations on pinterest!

Thank you so much. I will try this too. What kind of oil do you use?

I use lavender oil, eucalyptus, and then some aromatherapy oils you can look into it online to see which would fit you best :) do you have a certain scent you like? or one that calms you down?

I’ve never tried aromatherapy so I don’t have a fav but I have heard that lavender is good.

I use a diffuser with aromatherapy, relaxation music on my phone... take a bath, go for a walk. If it is really bad I will take my anxiety med. It is taken as needed. However try to use the med to get out and make it beneficial.

Yeah breathing helps a lot. And also realizing that it’s not that big of a deal. Often times we can get too caught up in the moment and forget to take a step back to look at the situation differently

in reply toKainan

So I was wondering what kind of thoughts do you use to help get rid of the panicky ones?

Like just not making a big deal out of it. Not feeding the fire. Nothing is really as bad as we play them out to be in our minds. Some feelings we just have to learn to let go and step aside. Let them be, but I'll just keep going about my business

Thank you!!

We have all been there. I just had my first panic attack in February and have now been managing with generalized anxiety. I have tried it all. Mediation, diffuser, hypnosis, and meds but one thing has put everything in perspective for me.....The DARE method. I strongly suggest you read this book. I wish you the very best!

I just started reading this. Hoping it will help because like you said I have tried it all.

I'm just afraid sometimes to ignore anxiety symptoms

Hi Glendajean! I am just about to go on my run. Exercise is what helps me most. Deep breathing too. Have you tried meditation?

Hi starlight!! Yeah I meditate every day for 30 to 45minutes? I do think I need to start walking again but I’m afraid of some of the dogs in my neighborhood. I’m trying to figure out what else I can do. Maybe floor exercises?i used to be so strict about working out.

I love to meditate too 😊 it helps..

Some days when I can’t go out I do steps in my apartment. I have a fit bit so I know how many I do, it seems to help....I try to go out as much as I can but some days I don’t manage it...

Best wishes 🌺🌼🌺🌼

Thanks so much for your tips.

That is awesome that you meditate every day for that long!!! You are inspiring me to do more.

Yeah try to find an exercise you enjoy otherwise I will be difficult to keep doing it.

Thank you starlight. I do a guided meditation about self love and it is beautiful!! I feel like if I could get off anxiety meds and get my panic under control my life would be happier.

As I read you mentioned you like lavender. This stuff seems perfect for you and your anxiety!!!

Sounds great. I use peppermint candy sometimes too when I feel anxious. It’s strong taste helps me to stay in the present more.

Oh it only takes 30 minutes to work too. Just in case you really need relief like I did. I was housebound and I finally feel relaxed enough to go out. Some ppl are still mean to me but I don't really care anymore!!! LMAO!! Great stuff😄☺😊

So glad it is working for you!!
