Hi everyone! I’m new to this and stumbled across it as I was looking more into my disorder. I have had social anxiety for as long as I can remember and have done a good job at overcoming it, or at least I thought. Yesterday I had some sort of panic attack while being in a crowded place, so much that I physically felt sick and had to leave, which ruined the day for everyone else I was with. And now I feel myself shifting back into old habits where I seclude myself & feel unmotivated to do anything, anyone else deal with this? /:

Yes, it’s two steps forwards ten steps back for me at times....

Just recently had a set back, not beating myself up about it, going to do my best to get back on track....I can have some good times and overcome things with my social anxiety too...

I do isolate a lot, as I get very tired....

Welcome, it certainly helps to know others understand and to write things down...

X

Yes exactly!! It’s so hard getting back on track because what seems like a minor setback is the opposite for me. Thank you!

Hi. Like you, I'm new and stumbled across this forum whilst researching anxiety for the millionth time. I've also suffered for as long as I remember, firstly thinking that there was something physically wrong with me as my anxiety makes me feel so ill.

In answer to your question. Yes! I completely understand how you feel. It's like a vicious circle, when something happens you fear it happening again which brings it on again etc etc. Easier said than done I know but just try treating each day as a new day, a clean slate. Be kind to yourself and don't beat yourself up about the panic attack, just think "ok, it happened" then move on. I've found that completely avoiding situations can make you fear them more so try "feeling the fear and doing it anyway" (a really good book by the way).

I wish you well, I really do. Take care x
