I'm afraid to get off klonopin. So far I got off 1mg but I'm having bad pain in my lower back. I think it's from the anxiety and tension for so manyyears and coming off klonopin the tension and anxiety is coming back and causing pain. What should I do?

Do you mind if i ask why your coming off it. If its necessary why not replace it with something else like a back massage and a good relaxing soak in the bath.

I don't believe clonazepam is for pain. If that is your only reason for it's us, I would contact your physician. Regardless of the purpose of use, you want to wean yourself off the medicine under a doctor's supervision. Clonazepam is a schedule IV drug in the US.

I've read that coming off of Klonopin requires a very slow tapering process over time. 1mg is still a large amount to quit abruptly. Klonopin is a benzo and can be addictive so you should expect physical as well as mental withdrawal symptoms. You should consider working with a medical/therapist during your withdrawal. Also maybe a Naturopath to provide you with supplementation to ease the withdrawal symptoms. At the least check out information on the web about how best to taper off of benzodiazepines (Klonopin).

And to be blunt, I would question the legitimacy of quitting Klonopin "because your husband doesn't want you on meds". If it works for you and it was prescribed for you, that is what is important. Do what's best for you.

Did you ever make it off the klonopin?

I hope you’re doing okay!

I’m on it myself for the 2nd time and trying to get stable before trying to wean off.

Hope to hear from you.
