Coming off my klonopin without my doctor

No doctor will really explain to me what to do. They just tell me wean off the klonopin. πŸ˜‘

So I'm down from .5mg twice a day to .25 mg twice a day

Can i just to like half cuts a week?

I've been on it for year.. not always on this dose. At one point I was taking it as needed

There is a lot of information on this topic on the internet. Google "wean off Klonopin." I think the general recommendation is that it should be quite gradual.

Hi Elizabeth04, When weaning off my benzo (under a doctor's care) he referred me to the doctor in the UK who specialized in Safety while getting off benzos. (Klonopin being one of them)

Look up Dr. Ashton's Method of Weaning off Benzos. It will show you a chart of how to safely wean off your medication. It would be nice if you showed your doctor and he approved it. That's only because you need the support when coming off meds. Good Luck x

I've looked up the Ashton manual but I don't understand how to go off such a low.dose .25

I'm gonna look more into it though. Thank you πŸ™‚

The basis Elizabeth is cutting small doses every 2 weeks, never going back up on a dose. So from .25 you would cut that in half for 2 weeks, then cut that dose in half until you have nothing left but crumbs that you can dilute in a shotglass of water. They do make liquid meds for that purpose, but at this point, you can get away with doing it by small cuts.

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks so much. I really want to do this safely and correctly and never touch them again. I remember my old doctor telling me "don't worry you dont have an addictive personality, you won't get addicted to them" well here I am a year later and I feel as if I have to take them daily even if I'm not anxious. I know once they are out of my system I will feel better, it's just getting there. Again, thanks so much. X

Remember this (which made me feel better) we are not addicted to the medication but our body has gotten dependent on it. x
