A good 2 weeks has been my experience. I always end up going through withdrawal when I stop antidepressants. Good luck to you!

Hey you.

I have been on antidepressants for quite awhile now. Longer than 6 months. The withdrawal symptoms are individual but I get really anxious and over emotional. Mine are pretty bad but SNRI's are always hard to come off of.

You may want to look up the Cipralex to see if there is a withdrawal syndrome.

why you stop the antidepressant?

in reply to lhortiz

i stopt it because i had bad side effects and it didnt work for me

I stopped them for pretty much the same reason or that they stopped working. It took me a really long time to find something and now I am doing much better. I do have side effects from this medication but they are not so bad that I can't live with them.

why you didnt try another medication ?

I have tried numerous medications. My symptoms of depression were so bad that nothing was working. I had to go for the big guns. Spent over $3000 on Ketamine therapy. It didn't work; then I had ECT and it only lasted for a short time.

I am now taking a tricyclic antidepressant that has been out of circulation for along time but it has really done the trick. I still have days where I feel depressed but it has mostly to do with having too much time on my hands. I'm not working right now and I'm the type of person who needs to stay busy.

Zoloft is a pretty popular medication but I just didn't do well on SSRI's. I find I respond better to medications that increase norepinephrine as opposed to serotonin.

It sounds like your going down the right path as far as weaning off your medication. That's the best way to go.

Something I did was get on drugs.com and read the reviews of the different antidepressants. You may want to give that a shot. It actually helped me. There are a lot of people that give good feedback on how the meds work for them and I would prefer to hear it from those taking it as opposed to the drug companies and sometime the doctors.

i was on cipralex for 6 months first month i had an increase anxiety with 5 then 10 mg then my doctor adjust my cipralex to 15 mg it didn't help much with anxiety it helped with my mood swing but i didn't find my self comfortable with medication i was too worry and feeling numb all the time so i went to my psychiatrist she said we can try zoloft bass iwas 2 scare to change medication all over again so i decided to stop antidepressant and try to control the depression and anxitey normally i dont know if i did the right decision ! and sometimes w things get hard i only take 0.5 xnax

If you are not dealing with anything heavy or stressful you may be okay without the medicine. It sounds like you've been doing okay. Xanax does pretty good as a rescue medicine. I take lorazepam on occasion but only when I feel really bad. The benzo's can be a bitch to get off of so as long as you're not dependent on them you should be okay.

If you find that your having issues again with mood swings then go back to the doctor.

It's all trial and error really.

i know im having mood swing twice in a day but i prefer to control without medication cause i hated my self when i was on cipralex i still have 2 weeks on 7.5 mg then nothing !!! i dont know if i should try zoloft or be free without medication and help my self

Why don't you give yourself a little time before you try the zoloft. You won't be any worse off if you do. If your symptoms persist then go back to the doctor. You know yourself better than you think you do. Good luck!

in reply to lhortiz

yea exactly i will try to free my self from medication! for a while and will see what happened cause i didnt like the medication and it mad me worse
