Is it really possible to recov...

Is it really possible to recover from anxiety ?, like for real ?. I’m honestly trying my absolute hardest every single day to tell myself that this is all just anxiety and that I can make it go away if I really want to but it just never seems to go. Apart from sometimes when I’m lying down I get a few minutes of feeling normal and honestly, when this happens all I do is tear up and get myself upset and question why it is that I can’t feel that way all the time. I am at the point where I’m questioning the rest of my life and career. I want and have always wanted to be a performer. And I’ve been in numerous productions since I was a little kid.

This is honestly the last thing anyone needs in their lives and I genuinely feel like there is not enough known about this condition to doctors. Like I never in a million years would have thought that this is what we are told to do “oh just take each day as it comes and try to be happy” ye thanks.

I guess what I’m asking is, well..... is it really possible that anxiety actually goes ? Because I tell you what. If I have to give up my dreams and happiness because of this nasty illness then I might as well just not be here 😭

Hi Danevans01, yes you can recover from anxiety, like for real. Recover to the point of being able to live a productive life and pursue your goals. First you need to know everything you can about anxiety and how it affects the mind and body. What you think is what you feel. The reason you feel so good when lying down is because both your mind and body are at rest. Your breathing becomes deep and slow allowing for adrenaline to lower and oxygen to flow freely throughout your body. The feeling is serene and calming. You tear up wishing you could feel like that all the time and you can.

You must learn to get yourself in that state of mind and control other than when you are lying down. It takes practice and patience but you can retrain your brain to respond to outer stimuli such as deep breathing, visualization, affirmations, meditation, self hypnosis etc. Starting each morning with one of these techniques can put you on the right foot in starting your day. Mid day, doing the same. It only takes 5-10 minutes of comforting "me" time to quiet you down. Once again before bed will allow you a good night's sleep.

We are born with a Type A personality and an over sensitized nervous system. That may never go away completely, it will just sit within us on a slow simmer. With the proper training in controlling your emotions and accepting them as harmless, that simmer will never over boil.

When anxiety comes along, you need to dismiss it quickly. Not fearing it, not focusing on it but going on with your day. Not having fear of anything is what will conquer the anxiety once and for all. Don't allow anxiety to control your life, It is time for you to take your control back. It will happen. Never give up, it's not an option. Go forward, embrace life and live it with passion. :)

Again agora, thank you for such an amazing response and taking the time to reassure me 😊 this really helps ! I’ve been told that my anxiety over my health might need a little more acceptance in the fact that it is in fact anxiety. So I have a feeling that if I can one day soon actually accept that it is anxiety and I’m not dying then this will all go. But until I see from doctors that I am definitely 100% well and not going to die I’m really not confident that my mind will allow me to accept that. Thank you !😊

Yes it is truly possible to recover from anxiety disorder, I have. The solution is counter intuitive - you have to learn to totally accept the anxiety feelings. The harder you try to make it go away, the stronger the feelings become.

My suggestion is to find a therapist or center that specializes in treating anxiety disorders. It would probably be the quickest way for you to learn about it and get help in your recovery.

Anxiety disorder is quite common and treatable.

Hi! I agree with Agora. But like with a musical masterpiece, sometimes you need more instruments to get the depth of the composition. So, in a way, my insight complements Agora's.

First, my anxiety went 100% away after I changed my diet. This was full conscuoius decision to detox myself as much as I could by going full 100% raw. Fruits, leafy greens, vegetables, nuts, seeds, etc. No cooked, boxed, canned, or anything processes. No meat, no bread, nothing, nada. One day after about 2 months I woke up and felt inside my every cell that it was actually gone! This was one of the happiest moments of my life! Besides the full detox, I cannot say what exactly happened, what it was, but it worked! Although the anxiety symptoms are virtually same for everyone, the major ones, however, I believe the path to get there us not the same for everyone. Furthermore, it is my belief that Anxiety is body's dealing with overtaxed nervous system. But the nervous system can be compromised by more that one thing. Stress, of course. It is estimated up to 95% of all illnesses are caused by stress alone. But when we think of stress we instantly picture only mental stress. The stress, however, is broken down into mental, emotional, physical and chemical stress. Each of these categories, when unbalanced, can lead to a variety of illnesses but it can manifest as anxiety. So, for example, you may be infected with a virus that stayed dormant for years and activated when your body defenses went down. One of those viruses is called EBV. Virtually we all are infected with it but don't feel it's effects as it stays dormant. Another thing that may kick of anxiety may be your gut flora. If your gut flora consists of unfriendly types of bacteria, worms, or other patogens , the toxins overload may kick off variety of health issues, including anxiety. Another anxiety causing agent may be toxic metal overload. It could be something as simple as copper or as deadly as aluminum or mercury. When these matals get inside our brains through the blood brain barrier the results may be catastrophic. Last, but not least, getting fill spine exam through a Chiropractor may also reveal some hidden issues to your nervous system. These are just few examples. It easy to discount any ir all of these at first, but if you are serious about getting rid if your anxiety, you really have to adress all and then some. There is no doctor that you can go to that can say 'your anxiety is caused by this one particular thing, or even these two.' Unfortunately, our medicine is not yet advanced enough. So really you have no choice by tackling as many aspects as you can. You may need to change your life more than just changing the makup. It's all up to you how deep the change goes. There us no pill or one program that will take anxiety away. Pills will only mask it.

Most people are thought to find ways to relax and to deal with mental stress but tge glass never gets fully empty. However, better is to remove yourself from the things that produce stress in the first place. Sometimes grand changes are not possible but even the small changes can produce noticeable results. Leaving 30, 40, or even 60 minutes earlier for work, for example can work miracles in people who otherwise sit in heavy traffic on the way to work. This is just example and you have to make your own list. This list will further empower you.

Also, whatever the changes you intend to make, make sure you have support or at least a cooperation of significant others in your life. It's so much easier with someone who can support you in detoxing and healing your life. It can be done! It has been done! Draw a plan, make a list and start making changes, no matter how small, every day. Video yourself at the onset of your healing journey and be as detailed as you can about your symptoms, how these make you feel and even rate them on a scale of 1 to 10, and how you intend to heal yourself. Make another video in 30, 60, 90 days.

Also, if you can, start some exercising routine. Can be anything, walking, swimming, weight lifting, bicycle, etc. Do it slowly but daily. Stary with 5 minutes and slowly stretch into 19, 15, 30, etc.

I virtually guarantee that if you act on making yourself mire healthy your anxiety will vanish sooner that you think.

Learn to meditate. Plenty of stuff on you tube. 20 min/day.

Thank you soo much ! What great advise ! I do appreciate people asking about meds but I do not see it as the way forward. At the moment I do not exercise, I smoke and I have near to no social life. Thank you again, I will definitely start making changes right away !😊

No, I have considered taking meds but the thought of having to live the rest of my life on them really scares me. I’m nearly 17 and I’ve been wanting to start my driving lessons soon also. Does the medicine that your on cause drowsiness or prevent you from being able to drive ?
