Mckeehand, taking medication is a package deal. It needs talking therapy as well as using the time you are on medication to find ways that you can help yourself through different methods. Meditation, deep breathing, Yoga, Hypnotherapy and most of all Accepting that these panic attacks are not harmful. Scary but not harmful. They are coming from the negative thoughts your brain sends out to you, causing adrenaline to pour through your body, causing the physical symptoms and panic.
Learning more about the mind/body connection and how panic attacks feed off our fears will allow you to get over the feeling as well as work with your medication. x
Hi there. Have you ever heard of the site cbt4panic. It's free resources to work through. And what it teaches us that as long as you dread the panic idea you are making it more likely to happen. It your also getting into black and white thinking of no panic attack =I am doing well, and an getting better and panic attack= I am not doing well I am not getting better.
If you can accept panic as an inevitable part of getting better and s leaning experience. You are less likely to approach situations with a sense of I mustn't have a panic attack as that me and I am not getting better.
It's so hard to get your head around. I am just at the very beginning of understanding it now after spending months trying to fix myself.
