I’ve had anxiety since being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2009. I was put on Xanax and i’m Now on klonopin. They help but it’s still there. Anyone have anything better?

The only way you will know for sure is to see your Doctor. I recommend doing it sooner rather than later.

Hello. You been dealing with cancer for over 8 years? Has there been any improvement/

Anxiety and klonopin are standard anxiety relieving meds, but although I take xanax, it doesn't relieve my concern with the condition I have had for 17 years. It just eases it a bit. It's not cancer.

Does your team of cancer physicians include a neuropsychiatrist who is working with your anxiety? Perhaps here is a therapist on the team to work with your anxiety. Meds are never going to take away the anxiety completely, I'm afraid. And if you are having nightmares, there is a medication the VA uses with PTSD vets that helps me. Sorry I don't have more to offer. My best to you as your life continues with its challenges. x

The best thing to do David is, since you know what it is, just let it happen. When you feel nervous or feel whatever your symptoms are, just accept that it’s anxiety, & remind yourself that you have no fear of it. Give it very little attention. The less you are bothered, the less you will keep feeling it. Also, know that worried thoughts cause the body to respond with the anxious feelings you’re feeling, so it is very normal, but if you can limit negative thinking, you won’t experience as much anxiety. If you can’t help but worry some, which is also normal under the circumstances, that’s where meds can offer some additional relief. You must be doing well physically? since your diagnosis was so long ago?

Great! I saw your bio. So, you beat the Sq Cell ca! Wonderful, praise God! You have every reason to be grateful, hopeful & faithful, which i believe that if you can really focus on your thoughts lining up with those emotions, you will see the anxious feelings gradually become less & less debilitating. And that’s as long as you don’t fear the feelings. I think you’ve been relying on the drugs, which is ok sometimes, instead of developing your own mind control and strategies to overcome the anxiety. Have you read Claire Weekes’ famous book, Hope and Help For Your Nerves?

ISAGolt, thanks for the post. Yes, I am doing pretty well physically. I do get anxiety that really feels more like RLS. I take Klonopin and try to mentally work my way through it. Thanks again...
