Hello I am a male 22 years old and I had a quite normal life which totally changed before 2 days as I am having bad chest pain in the upper left part ... feels like tearing of my chest
I also have cough with phlegm but as it’s winter in here so it’s normal out here to almost every one ... but my chest pains have become really bad ... as I suffer from anxiety pretty much ... I did a x ray chest pa ... well they told to wait couple of days for the reports but gave me the X-ray of my chest and said that it’s normal as your reports would be normal too ... but I am worried about lung cancer as I am a smoker ... but not. Constant .. I can say hardly 2 cigarettes a day ... but I am really worried .... the left chest is also tender to touch as pressing my ribs gives relief to me ... what could be my problem ?

Abdullah741, Unfortunately, we are not doctors and cannot diagnose. You did the right thing by seeing a doctor and having a chest x-ray done. I would tend to agree if the x-ray of the chest is normal than you are just waiting for the report to be typed up and sent to you.
A cough with phlegm doesn't necessarily mean a diagnosis of cancer. (Especially with the lungs being normal) There are many upper respiratory infections that can produce a cough with phlegm as well as left chest pain.
I would advise you to follow through with your doctor who knows your health history. We can support your health anxiety. I wish you well. Please give us an update when you get the written report. I can tell you not to worry but I understand how waiting plays on our minds. Try to stay positive. We do care
Abdullah, that is the problem with those of us who have health anxiety in that we always worry about our heart. It is not always about the heart or lungs but pain can be caused by the muscles in the chest wall itself. That could cause you to feel pain in the muscle when you press on that area.
I know it's confusing but that's because we aren't doctors. A doctor has the experience to look at an x-ray and see if there are any problems. From there he will provide you with medication if warranted or let you know if it is anxiety caused.
