Isaack, With anxiety I would say "I died a thousand deaths today" and without anxiety "I live each day to the fullest" It's when we leave our comfort zone, we finally get to live. Death will take us all one day but until then I've got a lot of living to do. I've given too much to doom and gloom over the years, the anxiety monster doesn't deserve even one more day of my life. I'm in control now and you can be too Isaack. :)

Yeah. Thank you so much. Today is one of those days. Very down. But I will keep trying.

Yup I can relate!!! Anxiety sufferers are the strongest people out there. We fight and ask the questions nobody else does lol

Yep. To bad no one understands us. I wish there was a cure for this.

Me too Isaack! Other than just “pills” that only work for some. There’s gotta be a better way.

After feeling about to explode from feeling stressed for a fair amount of the day, I started to do a bit of idle Googling.I came across someone called Dr Elaine Ryan. (Mood Smith). She explains perfectly the role of anxiety in our lives and how it is the reason that humans have survived thus far. Animals respond to the threat of danger and they use the fight or flight sensations to flee to safety but because they do not go on to think past the imminent danger, they are able to return to a calm state quickly and continue with what they were doing before. The problem then is not with anxiety but the way our minds work , think and remember the times and places where we have felt panic in the past. This is just anxiety trying to protect us when there is nothing to protect us from We need to work on re-training our thoughts. She herself suffered at some stage. Why not have a Google and see what you think.

Essentially, people continue to suffer because they fight the very thing that is designed to protect them. When the fight/flight response kicks in, anxiety sufferers fear these feelings of fear and guess what? They add more fear which tops up the symptoms they dread so much, creating a cycle. In other words, they fear the feelings of fear which creates more fear!

The key to recovery is to understand how anxiety manifests (scary thoughts and physical sensations), see that it is completely harmless (remember, it is there to protect and keep us out of harm’s way) and gradually make it your friend instead of seeing it as the enemy. It’s about developing a passive attitude towards anxiety and all of its symptoms instead of fighting, avoiding etc. Allow yourself fall into any state and feel the symptoms with as much willingness as you can muster and do nothing to get rid of the thoughts and feelings. This is what acceptance is about and will eventually bring peace of mind and body.

Anxious minds create anxious thoughts. In my experience through recovery, it wasnt so much about training the mind and thinking positively etc, it was more about learning to let go of them and not to react, adding more fear. Those thoughts which dominated my life for some time before I learned to let go simply disappeared without a trace. Therefore, don’t waste time and energy fighting (yourself) because this just prolongs the agony and won’t be there when you recover.

If you remember one thing, remember this. Anxiety sufferers won’t get better until they stop trying to get better. Stop avoiding, stop running away, stop trying to do things to not feel anxious. Trying to do anything to rid yourself of anxiety doesn’t work. Doing nothing about it works.

There is a cure and it lies within you. Recovery is entirely possible if you stop fighting the thoughts and feelings and learn to let them go. Read any book published by Dr Claire Weekes then apply her teachings.

Yes and so can you.

As with most of us we need to focus on living! We are so focused on dying we aren’t living. Trust me I know this sounds horrible but when you die you won’t care a bit. Death is only hard on the living. Harsh reality. Try focusing on enjoying your life while you can! Easier said than done but one step at a time. I hope this didn’t come across as rude. I wouldn’t do that. It’s just something I’ve learned and when I worry about death I try to think at least I won’t hurt. I won’t care at all. So live! While you can.

There may not be a cure, pills are a bandaid at best but there are so many natural ways you can learn to live with depression and anxiety. Top of the list as always is diet and exercise. So if dying is your anxiety then controlling your diet and health will help you gain control somewhat at least over that anxiety. It will also help tremendously with all your mental health problems. While allowing you to be active and “live”
