It's 4am and I haven't slept more than 20 minutes. This seems to be happening more lately. I have been dealing with this for about 2 years. I have tried to convince myself that it's not anxiety, but I think it is.
I am very hesitant to try any meds, mainly because of the side effects and also because I am very sensitive to chemicals. I have been trying various herbal supplements, but nothing seems to do the trick.
Any advice?

I was like you and suffered for years with palpitations, tingling, nausea and dizziness. I was so against anti depressants. My gp told me there were a medication like any others. So I took the plunge and started on sertraline a month ago. I won’t lie. Everything was worse for 3 weeks and I couldn’t work. Day 24 and all the symptoms stopped. Give it some thought. I feel like my normal self again. Despite more awareness on mental health issues, there is still a stigma attached to anti-depressants which are hard to shake. Look after yourself.
I have just heard so many horrible stories about meds and having to try multiple meds because they didn't work. My body is so sensitive, and I have been given various other meds, only to end up in the ER.
Then there is the issue with withdrawal and trying to get off the meds.
For every horrible stories on here, they are thousands of good ones that people don’t post because they are not anxious anymore and are getting on with their lives.
Don’t get me wrong, I felt so poorly with side effects for the first 3 weeks that I would have given up if it had not been for the forums telling me it will pass.
Years ago, I suffered panic attacks while going through a divorce. I was put on citalopram but I convinced myself I didn’t need them as I wasn’t ill and having a heart attack. Well I eventually took them for 6 months and had no problem getting off them.
Now, I have some health issues and the meds are helping me to stop panicking that I am going to die any minute.
I have not been told it's anxiety by a doctor. They are either unsure, or think it might be hormonal. I spoke with 2 psychiatrists and neither thought it was anxiety. Which only causes more confusion.
So I have been trying to resolve these issues on my own.
My symptoms seem to be associated with anxiety, which is what I am trying to determine. I have no idea, but was hoping to gain some insight from this group.
It calmed my nerves which helped with internal shaking and insomia. It helped my body to release unwanted toxins which made me feel better. They also helped me forget some of my symptoms as i felt so much better. Swedish Body Massage is most benifital. Some reiki practitioners dont even charge and work off a donations policy. I was very unsure on reiki but it worked for me
