Yeah I feel like this sometimes after having a coffee. Its because its a stimulant and increases your flight or flight response. Its recommended that people who suffer with anxiety should avoid caffeine which is also in tea and fizzy drinks etc. Ive definitely cut down but still have a little now and then. X

Vitonyc, is that regular coffee you are drinking?? If it is, it would certainly tighten your chest muscles and muscles down your esophagus. A good Decaf coffee with a flavored creamer can have the same soothing effect w/o the caffeine (which is our enemy) With either coffee you use, be aware that in times of stress, the oil from the coffee beans can cause GERDS to get worse.

The shortness of breath you are experiencing is more likely coming from the tightened muscles in your diaphragm. If it was regular coffee you had, try flushing out your system by hydrating.

Yes i had palpitations and shortness of breath after drinking any coffee from a coffee machine or coffee shop. I still drink instant and am ok with that as long as no more than 2 cups per day!
