They can't fix you because you are not broken. You are you, anxiety and all. Don't understand what you mean by stating your doctor "let you go".....sometimes it is finding the right therapist and the right attitude and sometimes, unfortunately, the right medication.

You do know what to do. You perhaps need to start your quest for a better match in a therapist and read many of the posts concerning how others in this venue are coping with anxiety. And stay away from Google. My best wishes for a better day tomorrow.

Also I’m scared to try new medication because my doctor told me there have been no long term test on what medication does to someone in the future which makes me more anxious

You are anxious anyway. This something you need a second or a third opinion on, don't you think? I won't even eat some meals at a restaurant if someone I know already recommended it. Take a few deep breaths, take the night off, get some sleep and look at your situation again tomorrow after you have a chance to rest.

My doctor has signed me off she is referring me to get a review on my medication but then tells me that’s not going to make everything better I know that and you say I can’t be fixed because I’m not broken but I feel broken

Something isn't clicking here. Sounds like you and your doctor may have not been a good match. Sure, you may feel broken, sometimes I do too. But maybe it's "second or third" opinion time for you.

Hopefully I can get a new doctor I don’t really feel like she listens to me so that’s something I’ve been talking about doing but I have to wait till I see someone to review my medication

Hi Bethxxany.

You say you’ve tried everything to rid yourself of anxiety but nothing has worked. Have you ever thought about not doing anything about your anxiety and just letting it be there? I mean, letting yourself feel anxious, letting yourself feel depressed and not doing anything to try and control how you think and feel, knowing that it can’t harm you in any way and just your mind & body’s way of telling you to stop worrying so much (and trying to control it).

During my recovery, I learned that trying to do anything to NOT feel anxious all the time just didn’t work, except exercise which provided temporary relief (it used up all that negative energy trapped inside my body which is why you feel nervous all the time). The less I did about my anxious mind and body, the better I began to feel over a period of time. Gradually, all those fearful thoughts and physical symptoms melted away. You see, anxiety is tricky and will only go when you stop trying to fix yourself because there is nothing to fix!

If you are able, check out some of my posts on here which are based on my experiences in recovering from anxiety and what I learnt on that journey, with the help of a self help book called Essential Help for Nerves by Dr Claire Weekes and another book called At Last a Life by Paul David, an ex-sufferer. Paul also created a website called Anxiety No More and well worth visiting as it really helped me in a big way. It has a blog with lots of useful information and first hand experiences of how people have recovered and was able to relate to them. Whilst there are many different labels given to anxiety, the root cause is the same. Fear of something or fear of the feelings of fear. The good news is, you can overcome fear and the way to recover is the same as I explained briefly, regardless of your anxiety. Those books and website will provide you with all the tools you need to recover.

Thank you I’ve tried to just let myself be with my anxiety and feeling upset but it just makes me feel worse in the end I just don’t know what to do or not do I just want to feel better and happy again

Don’t expect miracles overnight. It takes time to recover. Your nerves have been battered by constant worry, stress or series of stressors over a period of time and become sensitised. When sensitised, you become overly sensitive to many things and feel fearful. You begin to withdraw from life such as stopping going places - everything seems to frighten you. This is not the real you, it is just your tired and battered nerves making you think and feel this way. The real you is buried beneath those symptoms and will gradually return when you learn to stop fighting anxiety and start living your life as if it wasn’t there. I know how hard this can be but it’s not impossible. If you make your life bigger than your anxiety and take it with you to the shops, cinema, work etc, you will recover.

Thank you I will try to do this and keep positive about it

Nothing in life worth having comes easy. Freedom from anxiety is no different. My recovery was slow but as a result, I have become pretty good at accepting things in general, not getting worked up about those things i can’t control (anxiety being one of those things you can’t control) and more compassionate towards people because you just don’t know their struggles in life.

Don’t even try to stay positive. It can be exhausting, mentally and physically. If you you feel down, be ok with that. Be ok about not feeling ok. Trying to be positive is fighting it. Accepting how you are at any given time without trying to change anything is the way to go. It’s like being happy and trying to make yourself be miserable at the same time. You can’t change how you feel but you can change your attitude towards how you feel by accepting things how they are. Does that make sense?

I’ve been in your position and know how it feels to be in the depths of despair. Feeling very anxious all day, every day, no where to turn, no escape. If you apply the teachings from those books, I have no doubt that you will recover. It’s a physiological certainty. Your nerves are sensitised but will de-sensitise if you allow your mind and body the time and space it needs to heal in the same way a broken bone heals or if you cut your finger chopping onions 😕. You don’t interfere with that process (it just heals by itself) and recovery from anxiety is exactly the same. Anxiety is your mind and body telling you to literally step aside from yourself, stop worrying, stop fighting it and allow the natural healing process to fix things as Mother Nature intends.

You won’t get better until you stop trying to get better. Don’t go in search of recovery. Recovery will come to you.

Best wishes ♥️
