OMG IM PANICKING !!!!!

I was put on propranolol for rapid heart beat caused by stress and anxiety. Doctors gave me 40mg in the morning at 20mg at night however I was only taking 10mg (naughty I know) lately I’ve felt I’ve not needed them so the last two days I haven’t taken any. I’ve just read up online that you shouldn’t just stop taking them that there can be bad side affects and even death! I’m now freaking out! What do I do?!!!!!

I think death is if your on them for heart problems. You are meant to wean yourself off them but also the dose you have taken is very small by lunch time your morning dose has worn off anyway. I'm on propranolol have been for 4 years. If your concerned called your pharmacy and get advice but I'm sure as you take them for anxiety not a actual medical condition you should be fine and your dose was small

Hi thankyou for replying! I literally just read it online and started freaking out! Yeah the GP didn’t say I have a problem with my heart he said it was just beating stupidly fast. Should I start taking them again tomorrow then see the GP about coming off them? Xx

It is a scary thing to read but it's just to cover them. If you had heart failure and you stopped taking them there is a risk of death so they must write that in the instructions. It's up to you, I don't think you need to start taking them again if you dont want to, but might be worth just seeing the gp and telling the you want to come off them and have stopped taking them and see if they think that's a good idea if your heart has definitely settled down.

Yeah I mean the only thing I’ve noticed since not taking them is my heart feels like it’s beating hard if you get what I mean? It’s not been as fast but it kinda feels like it’s beating really strong?

That's a form of heart palpitations if your happy with that then stop taking them. But propranolol just helps your heart regulate and normally you also don't notice the beating so much when on them. All the best

Please just call your RX doctor tell him/her what you've done. We're not doctors and only yours knows why the meds were rx and what you should do. If you were really panicking during all the time it took you to post and converse about the meds, I think you would have been in the doctor's office begging to be seen by him/her. Please just take good care of yourself.
