Increasing lexapro from 10mg to 20mg

Did it help anyone? Is increased anxiety normal? I'm afraid of meds to be honest. I was very anxious at 10mg. On it for four months then started taking 15mg. Took 20mg this morning & I just feel more anxious. Not sure what to do.

Hi TiredOfA, I started on 10mg moved up to 15mg where I've stayed the last 5 years. For me, it's the best med I've been on. I got off my benzos and Lexapro carries me. I would give your doctor a call and let him know that the anxiety continues. Maybe it takes time, maybe it's not the right med for you. I'm not keen about meds either but once you find one that works, why rock the boat. Good Luck xx

Will I get stuck in this anxiety daze forever or does it settle down once you decrease your dosage? Idk if I should stick out the 20 or

TiredOfA, only your doctor can advise you as to the dosage you should be on. He knows your health history and prescribes according to what he thinks is best for you. Sometimes it takes some trial and error with not only the meds but the dosage as well before they find a perfect balance for you.

You really need to go through your doctor and not lower the dose on your own. The other thing is that you just upped the dose to 20mg. whenever you change the dose you have to increase the time that it would have taken to work had you stayed on the same dose from the beginning. And that is usually 4-6 weeks for any SSRI meds. You may want to give it some time to reach full efficacy level before wanting to get off it or lower the dose. My best to you.
