Propranolol 10mg.

My doctor prescribed me 10mg of propranolol to take 1x daily,for anxiey it has been working for me I took 1 5 hours ago and I feel like its wearing off and I kind of feel anxious again. How long are they supposed to last for and is it dangerous to take another one??

Hi Rubykaia14, propranolol may be given for anxiety but it is a beta blocker which is used as heart medication. For that reason, I would not take another pill without checking with your doctor. It may make your blood pressure too low. Might you be able to try other things to calm down your anxiety such as listening to a relaxation recording and deep breathing. YouTube has some excellent choices which may help in just listening to it for 10 minutes.

Oh awesome ive been having hot and cold sweats too is that normal?

Ive never had hot and cold sweats prior to taking these pills though, thanks for your advice

If you were a doctor, you would know better than to advise someone to take any medicine without knowing medical history. You should be arrested if you are.

I understand that but messing with propanolol is serious. I ended up in the ER from taking it because it slowed my heart rate down too much. I was taking 10mg 2x day. You should not be giving medical advise

Propranolol slows down the activity of your heart by stopping messages sent by some nerves to your heart. It does this by blocking tiny areas (called beta-adrenergic receptors) where the messages are received by your heart. As a result, your heart beats more slowly and with less force,
