Yesterday I was at work and they were doing free blood pressure tests so thought I'd get one as it normally is fine and gives me some reassurance. But the results were 140/90. That's high isn't it? I had been walking and I was hungry but it's made me more anxious than anything now, is it dangerously high???

Blood pressure
Did they say anything about it to you being high or abnormal after they took it? It seems normal just a little high which could be any factor for that such as nerves or being anxious and nothing to worry about. It’s like when you go doctors and you heart rate shoots up from being nervous or white coat syndrome.
140 over 90 is the upper limit for normal blood pressure in the U.K. but in the U.S. where pharmaceutical companies have successfully lobbied the American Medical Association it is lower than this. However 140/90 at at works testing is nothing to worry about, for an accurate reading you should have been sitting down for 5 minutes, not eaten or drunk anything for an hour, don't talk while reading is being taken and arm to be supported at the level of your hearr - if these conditions were not all met then you could end up with a false high reading.
