Jodz, it sounds like anxiety to me but do go see your doctor to rule out the chance of it being something organic, it's always good to know for sure what you're dealing with. But those symptoms are all familiar to those who experience anxiety disorder.
You say that you were under a lot of stress in your previous job and maybe this went on for so long that it's made your nerves very sensitive. As a result they can go on the blink and start firing off all sorts of bad feelings and symptoms, many of which closely resemble real physical illness.
You cartainly did the right thing to change your job and hopefully you'll enjoy the new one more and it will be less demanding and stressful. But of course starting a new job always makes us more anxious than normal to begin with, that's only natural. But as you settle in to it and establish yourself that 'first night nerves' will pass and you'll find the job doesn't stress you like the last one.
The thing about all these symptoms, jodz, including the feeling sick on your first day, is to not start worrying and stressing and obsessing about them too much if at all. They are not the symptoms of real physical illness, they are only glitches in your over sensitive nervous system. So they can't do you any real harm, they just make you feel bad. So just accept the feelings for the time being calmly and without worry you'll give your nervous system a break and it will recover and stop playing trucks on you.
You can do your job fine even when feeling all those symptoms you mention because you now know they can't harm you, o.k. so you feel uncomfortable but just turn on to automatic pilot and do the job and all will be o.k.
You're not going to always feel like this believe me but if you can just accept the symptoms without fear then your nerves will recover and so will you.
