Hi - could upping my dosage of fluoxetine be making anxiety worse before better? I hope so. Also, why are diazepam so hard to be prescribed.

99% of the time when a medication is changed or a dose is changed it will make you feel worse before better. I take Effexor and Wellbutrin and it was a living hell for me for about 3-4 weeks but I can honestly say it has saved my life. And medications such as diazepam and the other PAM medications are seen as "quick fix" medications. Doctors do not want people to become dependent on these medications.

Thanks for your reply. I just need a helping hand and diazepam has done that for me in the past.

I completely understand.

Is there anything easier accessible with the same calming effect?

Not to my knowledge. They say cashews have some kind of chemical similar to whatever is in a calming tablet.

Hi, I'm having trouble with tinnitus, are ringing in my ear. It is really bothering me. It never goes away. What medication is prescribed for this ?

Autumnsa profile image
Autumnsa in reply to valachia-t

Have you had your blood pressure checked recently?

valachia-t profile image
valachia-t

Yes, it was a little high, but it was lower than the last 3 timesI had it checked. I have had this problem for 4 years.

Autumnsa profile image
Autumnsa in reply to valachia-t

There isn't any prescribed medication really for tinnitus. I know if your blood pressure is higher it will cause ringing in your ears. Do you or have you listened to loud music frequently? There is something that can be bought over the counter for ringing in the ears.

valachia-t profile image
valachia-t in reply to Autumnsa

No. No loud music in the past are present. What can I purchase over the counter, if you are entitled to let me know without breaking any rules ?

There is something called Ring Relief over the counter. If you go into any drug store and tell them you have ringing in your ears, they should be able to show you what they have. Almost everywhere has something.

Love the picture! 😊Yes I have been diagnosed with both OCD and ADHD but I got diagnosed with OCD first then ADHD do you know if they can exist in same brain as they seem to go against each other! And literature says one is overactive and one underactive part of brain same part how can that work?

Autumnsa profile image
Autumnsa in reply to Anxiouspony12

It's definitely something that fights each other. With OCD you have to pay attention to like every detail and every detail has to be perfect and with ADHD it's keeps you from focusing so the only thing I could see helping would be maybe medicine to treat both OCD and ADHD.

Thank you for the helpful reply Autumnsa!

Yes that makes sense something for both. I wish therapists understood this fact. It's quite simple isn't it? Balance the OCD and ADHD with meds for both. I'm waiting for appointment for autism centre and also a sleep clinic so let's hope a treatment is found that's appropriate for me. Thank you so much your answer has given me some much needed hope.😊😇

Ha ha well I'm not scared of being in a mental ward at all. I know somebody who went to one to get of drugs and got treated for ADHD and seen mental health crisis team at the hospital so not scared of that as it's not like the movies. Well not all the time anyway. 😂

Effexor is the only medication that has ever helped me. Recently, I had to up my dose due to a set back. I would like to get off of it someday but I've read it is almost impossible to come off of. Are you familiar with people that have done this successfully?

Autumnsa profile image
Autumnsa in reply to Shbarber

I too take Effexor 75mg. I know people who have successfully come off of it it but the withdrawals are terrible I've heard and read. It's just something that can't really be avoided.

Hello, can I ask two questions? The first is for me, I stopped taking my anti depressants, fluoxetine, several weeks back, my depression does seem to be better, however my temper and being really quick to anger is bad, does this wear off?

The second is for my mum, who is also stopping her anti depressants, suffers from the same thing, also, she still has a bit of depression, she wants to stop because of what we read about how harmful these drugs can be. Do you know of some alternatives like natural remedies? Thank you very much.

Autumnsa profile image
Autumnsa in reply to suffolkrelic

I don't know much on natural remedies unfortunately. Other than diet and exercise. Y'all have to remember that this medication effects the chemicals in the brain. So, when you decide to come off then it has to adjust to no longer having that medication to help with depression. Fluoxetine is a commonly prescribed medication but withdrawal symptoms are bound to happen.

suffolkrelic profile image
suffolkrelic in reply to Autumnsa

Thank you for getting back to me. I hope it doesn't last too long, I don't like getting angry all the time.

Autumnsa profile image
Autumnsa in reply to suffolkrelic

You should hopefully feel better once it's all out of your system if that's something you choose to do. No worries. I'm sure you both will feel better soon.
