Hi Duday29.

I too opted for no medication. Simply because the side effects were too severe.

I highly recommend CBT Therapy and vitamins that assist in day to day life.

I have been battling for a year now which was triggered by a few events and food poisoning.

Everyday is different and I just appreciate those gaps where I have peace its amazing. One more thing get a dog lol they are amazing to get your mind of the anxiety. And say no to sugar. OK I've said too much he he .

Hi Duday29,

I myself have suffered with anxiety for 8+ years and opted out of every taking medication. I have been doing much better with it these days as I have come to terms with it by:

1) knowing my trigger points and symptoms to when I am feeling anxious. This allows me identify and say I'm fine, I'm just feeling anxious and it will pass. It always passes...

2) saying to myself that it is very common and there is nothing wrong for feeling the way I am feeling-validating your feelings is the key

3) keeping busy with day to day activity- going on with life and not allowing your feelings to take over you life.

These tools have helped me tremendously over the years. Good luck, hope this helps 👍

Duday29, you are right that acceptance is key to recovery, it'simple to understand but it takes practice and perseverance to achieve. I suggest you take a look at the book written by the Doctor who first developed the acceptance method. Her name was Claire Weekes and her first book is 'Self help with your nerves' still available from Amazon new or used for a few pounds. Her book will talk you through acceptance, if you only read one more book in your life this is that book.

Hi Duday29, I too am medication free and suffering from anxiety.

I would definitely recommend getting some therapeutic support. CBT works for some people, but it doesn't work for me. If it's the same for you I urge you to explore other therapy options out there such as the humanistic counsellor I see. Whatever therapy works for you is what you should opt for.

Also I use an app called insight timer which has free mindfulness exercises and meditation techniques to help you with breathing and focusing through the anxiety. It helps me but may not be for everyone.

I hope this helps and wish you all the best.

You are not the only nurse that has this problem. I, myself, have GAD and MDD. I know plenty of other nurses that have anxiety/depression. What helps me is saying "Nobody is perfect, not even nurses"

Hi Duday29 kababayan :) i will msg you. I was grasping at straws when it first happened to me. I was sooo confused what was going on. I dont recognize myself anymore. Its like my mind was a magnet of anything thats negative. It sucks :( i started research and then my doctors confimed it was seasonal affected disorder. Our winter here up north is very long and very dark. It sucks. I was not used to it at all. Like you i also declined medication, im too scared of the side effects. My doctor still gave me anti-depressant. The bottle is still unopened. Its hard. But im slowly getting better. I took supplements like magnesium and vitaminD. Then im doing meditation and recently went to the gym just to do treadmill for a few mins then off to the sauna room after. It helped a lot. I feel more better now. Praying also helped me. Message me if you want to talk ok? Im here for you and not just me, everyone here too, they are so kind and supportive..love this community!
