It's happening again. Chest pain, heart starts racing, I try to sleep and BAM jolt up gasping for air. Used my rescue inhaler which seems to help in times like these. I love sleep to much to be deprived from it by my anxiety 😅

The same thing used to happen to me! I was explaining to my doctor how I occasionally felt like I had a weight on my chest and I couldn't take a deep breath. His first diagnosis was asthma, so I was given an inhaler. That didn't help at all, it only made my heart race faster. Turns out it was just my anxiety. Between stronger anxiety meds and occasionally a clonazepam (only occasionally), I don't have that problem anymore! :) plus, just knowing what's causing that feeling is comforting.

Nocturnal panic attacks are not much fun for anyone. It is interesting that your rescue inhaler works for you yet not for nitro chick77.

If you keep waking up pretty much every night of the week, you need to have a discussion with your doctor. Sleep is the most important thing to refresh body and soul at night.

Since I was already taking Mirtazepine, my doctor suggested using its sedating effect and switched me to night time use. I now sleep like a baby.

If you are not keen on prescription medication, there are numerous over the counter natural sleep alternatives available in the pharmacy.

Take a big tip from me, consult the pharmacist first in case there are any interactions between sleeps little helpers.

Have you had the doctor examine your chest?,i when I sleep on my back sometimes I find it difficult to breathe,my doctor listened to my lungs & found that I had fluid in them,so I now take water tablets.

It probably isn't this but get them to listen to your chest to rule this sort of thing out!,if you are having more chest pain more often then please go to your local a&e department,do not leave it untreated!!!!.
