Why wouldn't you go? It would get your mind off of the anxiety. If you go try and think of the moment you're there. Engage in a conversation with someone. Instead of staying home and thinking about your symptoms. Just food for thought.

You are so right why would i stay @ home & keep Aniexty company i have a life to live thank u guys so much i didnt get alot of comments but just the 2 has helped meπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Well, if you are 16 or older and have transportation to and from the BBQ, the question is easily answered. You go or you don't go. Of all your concerns, the one that has the most difficulty for you, I think, is anxiety. Let's knock the socks of anxiety with control and confidence. Look at this party as a grand ball...that is, prepare yourself, your clothing, your hair, your nails, your sandals. Choose an outfit that you feel good wearing, and sandals that match, and lay the out fit out. Choose your earrings and other minimal jewelry. Do your nails the day before, including your feet. Choose a contrasting fun color for your accent nail (your fourth finger.) Make certain you take a light shade of lip gloss as the sun will dry your lips. Take a relaxing bath or shower the night before, or the morning of the party. Apply an instant drying sunscreen all over your body. Minimal makeup...maybe just light mascara. Fixing your hair the easiest style you know, and maybe pick out a sun hat or visor.

So now you know no anxiety will be over how you look at the party. That should give you some confidence. Now tell us what you think your anxiety will be about at the party? We'll answer your reply. :)

PTSD,That made so much sense just reading your reply got my mind off my aniexty you gave me good ideas i honestly was thinking my aniexty was going to be about how i look bc it do have me looking exactly how i feel plus ik they going to ask how i lost. All the weight hopefully my mind will go to last yr when i started losing the weight on my on & not the recent drop bc of poor appetite but i"m already thinking of something cute to wear thank u!!!πŸ‘πŸ‘i will reread your comment tomorrow to help me out!!😊

in reply to Gloria_carr

OK, now...let's think of some cool answers when people say how great you look, or how did you lose all that weight (how, tacky)

I know right real tacky i"m going to say counting calories πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ inwhich that is how it got started & eating in portions & now lets see whats going on in your life will be my (?) for them. Lol

in reply to Gloria_carr

Have a better one..."but you don't have to worry, I didn't bring a camera."

Thats a Great 1!! I will definitely use that 1 πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

in reply to

How about "what weight?" or "I was thinking about you and you might need my secret." Those are the ugly comebacks to such tacky questions and you would never say....but funny, stress releasing games you play inside your head. If you know who the girls are who attending the BBQ, decide which may been friendly or friends before you lost weight, and if anyone attending snubbed you before you lost weight. Teens and early 20s women can be very shallow and you don't need to please them or wait for them to grow up. We can practice some very tasteful and mature remarks about questions about your body and shift attention to your personality that wears your body.

Thank u! Try late 30"s early 40"s women i dont have to tell them how just will smile & move on bc even if i tell them its not like they going to give it a try πŸ˜‚

in reply to Gloria_carr

Your right...so concentrate on the women who were there for you before your body change. They are friend material. I am so happy for you and just see you buzzing around that BBQ. That exercise in what you might say to the women with the tacky questions was just an exercise to get out the anger and hurt you had. Now practice the responses and conversation with the ones you would like to know better. That will help you to keep control, as anxiety won't have the energy it needs to take control.

Before the BBQ, maybe set a time limit on how long you think you can hold control before you may get a bit tired and anxiety may start to steal some of your confidence. That may be when you may consider if you should excuse yourself, thank the host, and leave smiling all the way home for a bubble bath. Don't you have a convertible you can borrow? (We never talked about having your arrival vehicle washed, detailed, clean inside...no children's socks or sticky sucker on the floor....you can do all this, or maybe you have family to help?

Please let us know how the BBQ Ball goes.

It's time the princess becomes queen.

(Besides, the glass slippers would be over the top.)

:) :) :) :) :)

in reply to Cat33

Thank you,,.......wait a minute Cat3......do you mean me or someone else..... just couldn't determine if it was the conversation or her appearance that was her biggest worry. So glad we hit the easier one.....she said she'll post a photo of herself in one of her favorite outfits at the BBQ tomorrow.

If you receive her post before it's sent to me, PM me and tell me the title. I'll do the same for you.

It was your reply PTSDfor years about getting ready for the BBQ it was fantastic I always feel so much better when I feel I look good It was lovely to read and so positive and motivating I'm not poorly that much now but I like to dip in each day to read the posts 😊

in reply to Cat33

Oh, my, it is remarkable to be near a shore and listen to the all the land and sea creatures begin the wake and stir as they know when their turn has arrived?

in reply to

That's how I wanted her to feel....a little at a time, to see how she would begin to look , and not even feeling a bit of the "anxiety" while she went through her mind and may be the closet too....each piece of her party wear until she could feel how wonderful she was going to look....and now no mention of fear or nervousness was mentioned....no what if's?

It's after 6 a.m. here, wasn' certain where she is. But no matter, my feeling is she is up. Showering or taking a bath after she has taken care of the household pets. Hope she did her nails yesterday.

She had just sounded so down, so I'm glad I picked the main thing bothering her....her appearance at the BBQ Ball. Sometimes it's a wonderful thing to have hit the right bullseye,

I'll be waiting for her photo as she promised to send one and let us know how everything went.

Just thank you for your reply. It meant something to me, as on this venue we really don't know if we help, or have missed the train altogether.
