It's good to b back. Is it normal to have severe anxiety after surgery.

The doctor said my anxiety contributed to my heart attack, which I didn't think possible.

I really angry at myself for not being stronger, feel like I failed Jen.

Still have this headaches, tingling hands and blurry vision at times and light headiness.

I don't take medication for my anxiety or panic attacks cos it destroyed who I was, turned me into a zombie.

Thank you all for your kind words and compassion.

It's most definitely normal to have an increase in anxiety and panic attacks after surgery yes.

Very common in fact.

And yes I would agree that the anxiety could well of contributed to your heart attack .

Anxiety stress panic attacks all put a heap of pressure on the heart of course .

Panic attacks are very underestimated in the U.K. VERY by most in the medical world ?

In America they only let a person having a servere panic attack go so many hours then they give an injection that actually stops the heart dead for a few seconds but then that in turn stops the panic attack and recalibrates the heart .

The heart is just a muscle at the end of the day and it only has so many beats per lifetime as it were , then its knackered.

So a calm relaxed persons heart that's beating say 60 bpm all day long is never going to work as hard as an anxious stressed out person who's heart is going at say 130 bpm all day long ? It's not going to last half as long .

I am like you enzo as in I have never taken their meds for my anxiety and panic attacks either ? No thank you very much lol but lie pass on paying their children's private tuition fees.

And I think your only covering it up with the Meds anyway it's not actually dealing with the issue at hand it's just hiding it ?

And like you said ? It just makes one a zombie anyway but that suits the medical world in many ways ? I.e. Your quiet when yr trankralised ? Excuse my poor spelling not my strong point lol.

And I like you also still have the light headedness tingling hands and face and blurry vision headaches and a whole lot more at times .

I've been living with it for 38 years I just do my best to get on with it.

Shame because it is a handicap really but hey what can we do we're still alive lol

What opp did you just have David ?

I think it was touch and go their for a while but I felt you were going to be ok all along to be honest even when you had not woken up after 18 hours .

Anyway real happy you made it .

I had testicular cancer operation, cut out cancer.

You don't realise how quick things can turn bad health wise.

I was going to ask Jen to marry me,not so sure she going to want to spend her life with a guy with anxiety and one testicle lol, and terrible heart and a big scar which I'm going to have on my chest.

I hate hospitals.

All of u posting here are so much stronger and courageous than I.

Enzo22, Welcome back to the forum. You have one incredibly strong woman in Jennifer. Her love for you was proven the night you were so ill. You were given a second chance for a reason Enzo. Life is unpredictable, don't allow anxiety to ruin your plans for the future.

Know that you are a strong person as well. I really believe it took more than the doctors taking care of you that night. You felt Jennifer's love and support for you and you mustered up every bit of strength you had to finish your dream of having a life together.

I wish you well in your recovery Enzo. May all your dreams come true.

You are very wise individual agora1. You always know what to say.

You give great advice.

Not to get into an argument with anyone, but I would not consider Anxiety your cause in having a heart attack at all. I am no doctor at all but use to be an emt. Maybe there is some kind of connection, however a heart attack is a blockage in arteries. Which anxiety and panic DO NOT cause this. I have been dealing with anxiety and panic for 10 years, and although I have health and heart related anxiety, I do not believe my anxiety will cause a heart attack.

Thank you for clarifying, don't want people to think they're going to have a heart attack now from being anxious.

I think Loveydovey is right, anxiety can't block arteries with cholesterol plaque. But the important thing is you're back, Enzo, as Agora1 says you were given a second chance, God did not want you yesterday☺ When you have a close shave you suddenly see life in perspective. You will probably stop stressing about unimportant things, you will come to value the good things in your life more. I think you will be a changed person after this, in agood way. Of course you feel shaken right now but all that will change. You are very lucky to have Jennifer in your life, hold on to her.
