I have APS and my INR has been pretty steady in the mid 3's for quite a while. On June 7th my INR was 3.6. I live in New York and went on vacation in NJ Sat, 6/24. By that Tues, 6/27, I was experiencing excruciating pain in my right arm which has normal arthritis and discomfort so I was going to find an urgent care center near where I was staying when I started bleeding when I urinated. I was rushed to the Emergency Room of a local hospital with an INR of 13.6. Vitamin K was started intravenously and I was admitted and discharged on Thursday 6/29. Wednesday and Thursday I was given lovenox shots. INR went up to 1.1 on Wed and 1.6 on Thurs and by Friday it was up to 2.3. In the meantime I was kept on my 8 mgs of Warfarin a day.
I'm getting my blood tested on Monday. We don't self test here.
No one could tell me why my INR would suddenly go up so high. Has anyone else ever experienced such a high INR?
Thanks.
