Sound just like your concentrating on your breathing to much and u now control it if it wasn't something serious then something would of happened by now I have this sometimes my stomach goes tight and chest need to breathe myself sometimes or I can't get air or breathe

Same here . It even feels like I've jogged in like cold air with my mouth open my chest feels like a little tight and cooled . I keep on having a sensation to take deep breath's every so often which is making me feel like shit so I guess this is normal considering the fact that I catch myself doing it and when I'm sleeping and doesn't do that .

It was mentioned on an episode of QI that the majority of people actually sigh at least 12 times an hour without even realising it

I've had this before, your mind is playing tricks on you. You are focused on your breath and on your breathing. Try to focus your thoughts on something else, maybe a task or watching TV. Hope this helps and good luck.

How long did it last for you ?

All depends on how long you think about it. The more anxious you are the longer it will take to bring the anxiety down. It's always best to try and stop it before it gets worse. Try to focus your thoughts on something else, rather then forcing yourself to breathe. Exercise is a good way to try and mitigate it. Hope this helps and good luck.

Have you seen the doctor about this issue? It sounds like it's anxiety. Don't forget that your mind is a powerful place. Even if your not thinking about it 100%.

I have been dealing this for about a month now. A month ago when i first had these symptoms i went and got a chest xray and blood drawn to check my oxygen levels everything came back fine. Ive also told my doctor about this and this is when she started to treat me for anxiety. I been taking celexa which has not helped. And just to be sure it isnt nothing serious i got my blood drawn again to check if everything is functioning in my body "my breathing" im waiting for the results on that

If they did a chest x-ray, drew blood, and checked oxygen levels, its most likely anxiety. I am not on any medication for anxiety so I am not sure what the side effects of them are. All I know is that some of them take a month to actually start working. Im sure everything will come back ok with your breathing results.

I hope everything is okay. Its really scaring me that my body wont breathe on its own 😟

I too have had this happen. I'll literally be sitting there and all of the sudden just sorta gasp. Idk if I quit breathing or my body just needs air from hyperventilating. It's alarming to say the least and the only thing I know to do is diaphragmatic breathing. I hope this gets better for you. xxx. Lisa

Hi I am answering a year later but i want to share. I too just don't breathe. I have people tell me all the time to breathe. I don't realize it until someone tells me to breathe. I have anxiety and probably have had it since I was a kid. I am 71 now and things seem a lot more scarier than when I was younger. I only take Ativan at night to help me stay asleep. I guess not breathing isn't going to kill me because I am here and have had my oxygen checked and it is fine. I have been told to do meditation. So after the new year I am going to look into yoga.
