Hi,

Both my husband and I have lung issues and anxiety most definately does contribute to the way you breathe! If you can do some self hypnosis...just close your eyes and try to make yourself relax....it does help. You should have a pulmonary doctor give you a check up and if nothing horrible is found suggest to him or her that if they could give you a mild relaxant, it may help. I have my husband on 5 mg. of diazapan (but only when needed). I take a little more, but I have some other serious issues that they want me staying "calm" all the time....I have 10 mg. of Valium, but again I only take it when I feel very stressed. I know there are books on self hypnosis, I'm sure there are some in the library. I have been using it for over 40 years....it's worth a try. I hope you feel better soon!

This is my newest symptom, I'm having a hard time thinking it's anxiety, I have been to my regular dr. She didn't seem concerned, so now I am at a pulmonologist and if he clears me them I guess I just have to deal with it, in taking buspiron, only started a week ago, still having the breathing issue. I try not to think about it, but it just feels like I have to take a really deep breath every little bit. I don't even feel anxious, so I don't understand. Good luck, I keep trying breathing exercises. Stress ball, prayer, try to jUst concentrate on something else, sometimes it passes and sometimes not. Good Luck to you, always here to chat if needed

I'm not sure if you check this still, but my breathing issue sounds just like yours. I have to take deep breaths sometimes it feels fine but then it comes back. I'm wondering if you found anyway to avoid this or therapy?
