My name is Amy. I am a nineteen year old college student recently diagnost with moderate anxiety, despersonalization, cardiac arrhythmia, and a mitral valve prolapse. To say it's been an emotional roller coaster would be an understatement, it's been horrible learning to deal with my conditions but what can we do? All of this right in the middle of my second semester of my second year. I am usually a pesimist but I've been trying my best to see the positive and stay focused even though I am pretty tired of it all. I am currently seeing a psychologist because I didn't want to be medicated, either way I was referred to a psychiatrist to undergo a series of blood tests.
The reason I joined this community is to get support and help give support. Also to understand because I'm pretty new to this and haven't been able to identify or see what triggers my attacks.
I sincerely wish the best to everyone here and hope to be a shining light at the end of the tunnel for those who need it.
Good luck everyone!!

Yes we did!! Many people with mental illness tend to keep it in and that's never good! There are many people like this than you think. I have learned so many things.
Yes. And communities such as this help to make us not feel so alone with it all..
Look forward to seeing you around here 😊👍
Hi Amy, I'm glad youve reached out so early -I waited a couple years. There's a lot of good advice here and the people are very helpful. I too, didn't/ don't use meds and I'm doing well. It used to be so bad.
Aw thank you!! Really? Knowing that gives me a lot of hope!! I do take propranolol because of my heart and it's said it helps with anxiety to, but it's only a 6 month treatment I'm hoping after those six months everything will be alright!!
Hi anvr97, I like your positive approach to your emotional and health issues. I too have Mitral Valve Prolapse and Generalized Anxiety. Understanding how they play a part with each other will help in calming your mind and body. Seeing a psychologist can help in reducing your stress level. I can understand your not wanting medication at this time but know that it is not a defeat should you chose to be on something for a little while or as needed. I'm glad you came on board to the forum where you can get support and understanding as well as help others going through the same thing. Wishing you well, wishing you peace & calm. x
Hi Agora!! I am already on propranolol 20 mg for my heart but it also helps with the physical symptoms of anxiety. I was told it was going to be a six month treatment. Hoping for the best!! I do admit I'm quite afraid of the approach with meds.
Thank you for the reply and good wishes! I look forward to seeing more of your posts ❤ peace and tranquility to you also! Have a blessed day.
