Been on lexapro since 2009 I believe. I'm a male and 27. I haven't gained weight because of the medicine.

Loveydovey0519, I have been on Lexapro for 5-6 years now. I was just wondering if you feel it is working as well as at the beginning. I'm on 15mg (started with 10) but lately I feel uneasy again. Just wondering how you feel about being on it so long

Well I've been on 20mg for 2-3 years now. Up until my recent setback that I've discussed it was honestly a MIRACLE drug. Now I'm not so sure, I'm uneasy and anxious more so than calm now. But I'm not sure if that's because of the setback and I'm over sensitized and hyper aware of everything, or because the medicine has stopped being as effective. I've read some people take 30mg supposedly, but research I've read says anything over 20mg isn't any extra help.

Oh thank you so much for confirming what I've been thinking. I too have thought of it as a great drug with no ill effects such as sleepiness. Other than dry mouth, I have felt good on it until more recently. My hands are shaking, I'm scared more than normal and it just feels as if anxiety is breaking through. I've heard too that anything over 20mg isn't necessarily better.

Thanks again, I really appreciate your input. Let me know if you make any changes. I got off my benzos a little over 2 years ago and was planning to start weaning off Lexapro in the near future. Maybe that tme is coming up.

Take it easy...

Hey Agora. I'm reading "A Mind of Your Own" by Dr Kelly Brogan and she makes so much sense of the medication jungle! It could be your time to wean!!! Very interesting in that the druga have not been proven to work and that we need to address deficiencies such as vitamins, hormone imbalances and our gut bacteria. Sounds all very alternative and woo like but this woman is a board certified psychiatrist and has done much research and I'm in a state of excitement for those of us brave enough to embark on our journey with food as our weapon! She advocates removing sugar, gluten and dairy for 30 days and says it will make a momentous shift in your anxiety and depression symptoms. Easy way if you don't want to get the book is to have a look at any of her youtubes - some of them are longish but oh so worth it!! Cheers v
