Go for distractions. Try the elastic band on the wrist, which you snap against yourself if you start those ruminations. Plan a fixed 10 or 15 minutes per day when you are allowed to ruminate, but no other times. Good luck. Don't restart the drinking
Oh man. If i did the elastic band think I think that would not work well for me
I wish I could get myself to not ruminate or to set a set schedule.
I am busy at work and i try to concentrate on my clients but its still really hard.
I just need to calm my "alert" system somehow.
It just sucks because it took me almost 2 years to get this far and I feel like i have made a lot of progress. And now I feel like I am back at square 1.
Try some hypnosis apps on your phone. I find they help. Sit in the car for 10 mins at lunchtime and listen to them. If anyone asks - you were having a catnap and listening to music!
Hello, sadly when you re/commence medication the symtons increase. It took me 3 weeks to settle down with citalopram. It was very hard.
You've been on medication before. If it helped - take it again and persevere. It will slowly get better - it did before remember.
Reducing thinking time is key. i get up and showered straight away - if i dont i sit about thinking / worrying for hours, then feel terrible about wasting the day.
Planning is good. Nothing major, one project at a time.
I'm moving house and the packing / cleaning has given me a purpose. People say exercise but it's hard to motivate yourself when you feel so low.
What jobs need doing? What have you been putting off? It's dull (i personally love it) but the attic, garden, garage won't clear themselves plus you'll be de-junking your mind too.
Do not start anything new until you've finished the old but planning is allowed... I'm going to keep bees next year, I'm reading up on it but need to finish about one hundred jobs first. I'm going to - one at a time.
This post may be no help at all but i needed a purpose. I'm not going to change the world but i am going to be content with myself and personal achievements and getting myself organised is the starting point.
