anxiety medication

bin on loads medication over the years started of on ativan made me really ill took me 1 year to get of them.After all the meds doctor has put me on fluoxatine 40 mill per day so now taking 150 mg per day amitripyline at night plus 40 mg fluoxatine daily.Anyone any thoughts about this.

Well those are quite big doses, about double what most people would take. Certainly that would knock me out for 24 hours, but you have the benefit of 2 different antidepressants

Hi latic, you can't knock what works for you. If that's what you need to live your life, than so be it. It doesn't make any difference in what others may say. It is your life, your body and between you and your doctor.

Years ago I got addicted to Activan and I had a nightmare coming of it was dreadful , I don't think they now prescribe it in the UK but can totally understand why you would feel apprehensive going through that experience about trying other meds

The combination you have been prescribed I have heard of others taking but not me personally and I suppose each of us might suite them or maybe not but without trying we will never know , I do not think they are addictive like Activan so if you needed to come of them you would not have to go through the same

If you feel you cannot take them I would speak with my Doctor and be totally honest , tell them it seems maybe a lot they are asking you to take your fears over addiction with them etc they may be able to reassure you or look at an alternative
