Eye strain: Does anyone feel like they have... - Anxiety Support
Eye strain
Yes I do! I went and got my eyes checked and they said everything was good. I sometimes fee preassure behind my eye with tension headaches also
I have a lot of tension headaches now. Didn't know if it was allergies but I think now it is tension. I use peppermint essential oil to help and it does some. I really think I need to get my eyes checked because I seem to strain a lot now
When it first happened I was so worried so I made a appt for an eye exam and ever since the doctor said everything was fine it all went away. It only comes back when I'm very stressed or crying so I think it was just me thinking about it and worrying. So maybe you should go to the eye doctor just for some peace at mind.
I told myself I need to just go and I might next month. I even told myself it could be age because I'm 41
I get random blue flashes in my vision when i am anxious
Try googling those symptoms
Either i have detached retina or a brain tumor
Great 😵
I get blue flashes too! Got my eyes checked last week and they are perfect.. so not retina. Don't think it's a tumor
On a serious note.. what is the next step anyway? Go to see a neurologist?
It's so common honest I think the same as I suffer from migraines 😳
Ltown1975, My eyes bother me everyday. Blurry, dry eyes, tear for no reason, can't focus sometimes and yet my vision has been checked and is okay. I feel it has to do with the tight muscles in my face and head. You're not alone with eye problems.
I have been having vision problems too and my right eye lid has been twitching for like 3 weeks! What the heck? This is not making my anxiety any better that's for sure.
If you have had it checked out and all is ok, it is more than likely how your body responds to stress. Anxiety is there all the time just at different degrees. The twitching can be triggered by mineral deficiencies, mainly magnesium. Google mag deficiency symptoms and see if they ring a bell. May be worth including some mg in your diet. Suggestions only.
Also, I have had all of those symptoms as well and I do have floaters. I do think that it is brought on by stress or at least, stress hasn't helped.
I have to say the weird flashes and such really do freak me out and make me wonder if there is something else wrong with me besides anxiety
Honest it's anxiety 😩
Yes, it can be unnerving but when all else's has been eliminated, accepting that it may be part of your process can be empowering in a little way.
I have had all of those things also, still do but I figure I've had it that long and 2 ct scans that show nothing and still here so it can't be too serious I figure.
Mindfluxxx, the chances of you having a brain tumour are infinitely small, if you had a detached retina you would have a big hole in the vision of the affected eye which you would have noticed by now. I think this is anxiety and too much introspection about your eyes, for complete reassurance do go see your doctor but do accept what they say.
Anxiety can affect our vision in many ways, one way is a shimmering affect seen on objects in daylight or bright light, scintilating scotamata which is like what people with migraine get before an attack (but without the headache) it appears suddenly like a scintillating zig-zag patten that causes a blindspot, it moves across your field of vision then after 25 minutes just disappears and your vision is back to normal. The first time I had it I knew it was anxiety otherwise it would have been panic stations. Sometimes I get it 4 or 5 times a year, sometimes a few years go by without it. When i5 happens I know it's stress and it will pass in exactly 25 minutes so I just wait patiently and because I'm not anxious about it and adding fear to my nervous system because of it then everything is cool.
Photophobia or aversion to bright light is another anxiety symptom. But any gaps in your vision that don't go away fairly quickly mead a trip to A&E or the ER.
Sometimes my vission will look shakey on patterns
We are all here to support one another not judge.
Floaters are common with most people and yes you are being paranoid which is also an anxiety symptom. I get floaters and shimmering
Eye issues and dizziness are the last remaining issues I have. I don't have panic attacks or palpitations but the eye pressure brain fog remains. Get passed it and I may be home free.
Keep in mind bad posture (upper cross syndrome/tech neck) and staring at electronics for too long (digital eye strain syndrome) can cause eye strains. Your neck muscles, back muscles, head muscles, and eye muscles are all tied together. Couple that with anxiety, makes for sore eyes and difficulty focusing, not always a vision problem.
I have been suffering with eye strain too for a year and it has been getting worse over the past 4 months. For me, it feels like my eye muscles are always tight and sometimes I get a squeezing feeling around my eyes and temples. I have TMJ, tight neck and shoulder muscles and get tension headaches a lot too. I get eye strain always when I'm on the computer and I avoid screens when I can. I get really bad eye strain when I'm in stores when I have to look for things and scan. I feel my eye muscles really tighten and hurt and my vision goes out of focus. I usually panic and have to leave the store. The constant eye strain sensation gives me a lot of anxiety and no doctor has been able to explain what is causing this.
I have that on a regular basis, somebody told me it was eye migraine, it lasts about 20 minutes for me. I did have lens implants 7 years ago which damaged my eyes though
Welcome to the club, I had my first episode in 1976 and it varies how frequently I have it, maybe 5 times a year, only once ever twice on the same day, lasts exactly 25 minutes, moves across my field of vision then disappears, I don't get a migraine headache.
Usually I just carry on doing what I'm doing, it's definitely stress related. Nothing to do with the eyes, it's source is the visual cortex at the back of the brain.
It's benign, doesn't damage your eyes or anything, you did right to see an eye specialist for confirmation.
