The heat messing with my anxiety
Hi Redwoodie, I will agree that heat does make it harder to fall asleep. Anxiety does better with it being a little on the cool side. If you don't have air conditioning, then a fan will do with a bucket of ice in front of it which will blow the cool mist in the air. There are pillows that can be purchased that go into the freezer for 30 min so that it will assure you a cool, comfortable sleep. When your head is cool, so will your body. Putting a cold ice rag across your forehead or back of your neck helps as well.
It helps for the room to be dark as well. Once you have these in motion then it's time to allow yourself to start relaxing. Stop the thoughts of not being able to fall asleep, it will only heighten your anxiety. Breathe deeply and focus on the night sounds and the coolness of the area around you. You are going to have to do some imagery focusing on cooling thoughts, but it should work. Sleep well...
Where do you live? It's winter where I am
