Addiction to fiction

I have increasing obsession and relation to fictional characters, specifically, those with secrets, such as supernatural abilities. I believe this could be my sub-conscious trying to link things together in order to find some sort of identity for myself, due to my lacking of such, perhaps? Does anyone else find themselves doing this? If so, please let me know. I feel like I'm going mad.
