Hi sorry to read about your son. I'm no expert but sounds to me as if cognitive behavioural therapy would help, your son, either via the Gp or privately to get seen more quickly. Have the school offered support? They will have a link to someone who can help, and I would make use of them! It must be so restricting for you all. Sorry I haven't got a better answer- stay strong you will both get there just keep asking for advice...hugs

Thank you Caroline, he is having some private counselling but I feel it's the wrong kind as it's person centred so need to book him some CBT. He is having hypnotherapy with rapid eye movement this afternoon, don't know what the success rates are but we are desperate now, the school are doing all they can but I need to help my son before I even think about school now I feel x

Hope the hypnotherapy goes well - I tried it for anxiety but I couldn't keep my eyes shut! but yes cbt would be good too. In anything that retrains your sons way of thinking. It's hard at any age, but 14 is tricky., hormones flying around! I have a 15 year old and his way of dealing with stress is to go out running, it sure helped! Are you able to go out for a hike, (taking a sick bag just in case)? Just to break the monotony? If I think of anything else I will let you know...keep going for it! hugsx

Just to say I had a quick look at "net mums"site and there is a conversation about this phobia and how others are trying to overcome it. Looks like cbt is the way to go.....xxxx
