Amytriptyline experiences ?

Anyone here started amitriptyline and how is it going for you I have started taking 20mg to stop my headaches that I get everyday

How long did it take to kick in and does it work ?

I would say yes it definately works for pain its the best thing out there it does zonk u out tho so its best to take it in the evening its a antidepressant to it takes 4 to 6 weeks to kick in but you may find it kicks in in like 2 or 3 weeks. I took it for ibs so its abit different but the pain relief aspect was amazing hang in there it will kick in soon enough

Has it kicked in at all for you yet Curtis? I know you said you started it like 3 weeks ago. I have the same symptoms as you and was considering taking it

Prescribed this for PHN( shingles after pain) 10 mg then increased to 25 mg It worked for a bit but I found the 10 mg dose more effective than the 25 mg. It has to be stopped gradually and I am trying to wean myself off bit by bit .. Really should be monitored by doc. but I've had to wait 6 weeks for appt. so trying on my own. To be honest I'm not sue that I should have started the drug, but pain and itching so bad I would have agreed to anything!!!
