Acid reflux: Has anyone developed GERD acid... - Anxiety Support
Acid reflux
This is link to symptoms of B12 deficiency.

It can be caused by low stomach acidity ... symptoms of which are very similar to high stomach acidity - GERD but most GPS aren't aware so the medication you are on could actually be making things worse if you have low stomach acidity rather than high.
If B12D seems likely then suggest joining the PAS forum on health unlocked as diagnosis and getting right treatment can be very tricky as B12D isn't a condition that is on many GPs radar
Yes, just like Gambit62 said. It could be low stomach acidity which is normal with age. The symptoms are the same but normally you have high acidity when young which is normal, and low acidity as you age. As for the back pain, it appear to be all connected because I get it as well so do many people I know with GERD. Now, in my case PPI's or anything for high acid works, so I believe I have low acid. Their is a home test you can do which is 50/50. Take 1/4 tsp of baking soda with cold water first thing in the morning, if you burp alot the first 2 minutes then you have HIGH ACID, if you burp once or twice the first 2 minutes then you have NORMAL ACID, if you burp between 3-4 minutes you have NORMAL LOW ACID, if you burp after 5 minutes the you have LOW ACID. Do this for 5 days- I did it and did not burp at all. So I will new my new G again in 3 weeks so he can check my acidity in my stomach- If I show low then their is a supplement you can take but only under medical advise. You ca also take ACV to see if you get better, if you do you probably have low acid.
