Well after today I'm finished from this medication. So sick, headaches, aching jaw from hell, blocked ears, shivering, , lightheaded , don't find things funny, I just don't feel myself .

Just can't do this anymore

How long were you on them? Take it slooooow coming off them. I have been on/off lexapro many times over the years, and currently clean now since Nov 15. Good luck with it all. 😊😊

Only 8 days and I can't stand it . Surely  I can go cold turkey ?

I've just been prescribed this stuff too. I've been taking alprazolam for a month which helped at first but I'm getting used to them already. I'm scared of taking escitalopram as well as I was supposed to start these a month ago but had one and it messed me up. Felt sick, kept shaking and felt spaced out. Will that not fade away if I take them.

Hi, I have been on escitalopram for probably a year now, the side effects do go away, just takes a couple weeks, it has worked wonders for me, I was on 10mg a day, and then went down to 5mg about a month ago. Does take time to get used to it. Hope u feel better soon! 😀

Dear Jodz:    Do what you have to do for yourself.   It sounds pretty horrific what you are going through.  I would let the doctor know, he may want to give you something in place of that or tell you what to do with the Xanax.  I'm sorry honey that you are having such a bad time.  It does show that everyone is different in tolerating meds. Taking care of yourself is #1.     xx

Agora 1 Thankyou . Yesterday was just terrible . I had high hopes for this med as I know 2 other people on it and they had no side effects and love it . But clearly not for me so disappointed . Yes I will go back to the Drs for sure and will keep u updated . Thankyou for your continued support X

So many people taking this medication and having terrible side effects :( I won't take medication as my psychologist said she doesn't like medicating people because she thinks I can get through it without it and I agree. Medication is mind altering and not to mention the impact on your body. Have you tried CBT and mindfulness ? I'm currently reassuring myself and have had every test I can to rule out anything nasty. Turns out I'm completely fine. I have health anxiety and was having up to 5 panic attacks per day, not sleeping, lightheadedness from hell, not eating, vomiting and pain everywhere it was terrible. I am on Acimax tabs and most of my symptoms have gone due to acid in my stomach.  I now reassure myself every time I start to worry or panic and work through it. Hope you get some relief soon X

Because with out dought the devil will rise his ugly head soon I bet. Xx

Hello Jodz,

I have been taking Lexapro for about 15 years now. I started slowly, braking the pill in half I started with 5, 10, and now 20...I have tried the cold turkey thing, but had very bad withdrawal symptoms. Just give the meds some time. It did help me, but not anymore. I need to talk to the doctor, but like you, I don't like medications and I am tired of talking to a primary doctor about my mental health. Just give it another chance for a short time until you feel better and talk to the doctor about weaning off after a short period of time. Don't wait too long! I stayed for too long with the meds and now is harder to wean off of it without having the symptoms back and multiplied.

Hi bel_hope,   I've been on Lexapro for 5 years.  I know it's going to be a struggle to get off it.  The doctors put you on and then, I swear, they forget about us.  Unless we ask to be taken off it, I think I'd be on forever.  I just spent 2 years getting off benzos that I was left on for 30 years.

I know. I asked my doctor and she said that I will always needed...I tried to prove wrong weaning off myself. It was okay for a few weeks, but then I felt worst. So I guess I will take it for a little bit longer until my mental health gets healed by God's grace.
