Starting Escitalopram
I've been taking citalopram for years not sure if it's the same thing? I just remember dry mouth and feeling a bit odd for a few days while they got into my system. May not even be the same tablet but the citalopram have a slight sedative in them so if anything should feel more relaxed
And Citalopram is Celexa I really wanted to try Citalopram because I heard a lot of good things about it.
It’s slightly different to Citalopram x
Been awake since 3:30, had to take a diazepam to calm me down x
Hi ! It’s absolutely normal. I’m on day 6 of 5 mg and im still not over the jitteriness, anxiety worsened and low mood. I’ve read that these are completely normal side effects and if we stick to it, it will improve after 3-4 weeks, so i’ll be sticking to it! Doc gave me clonazepam to control anxiety meanwhile and it works well, the combo just makes me sleepy! good luck!!
Thank you, is clonazepam better than diazepam then? X
In my opinion, yes, diazepam works better as a muscle relaxer and clonazepam calms down the mind, the nervous system etc. I find that diazepam has a very depressant effect on me, as opposed to clonazepam which improves my mood! Talk to your doc and see if he/she can adjust your meds. If you have to increase your escitalopram dose do it by 2,5 mg. I started at 5 mg and today after one week i’m up to 7,5 mg, slower is better!
Sorry also does clonazepam help you sleep? Diazepam did until last night when awake at 3:30 x
Yes, I take 2,5 mg of clonazepam in the morning to take the edge off the jitters and at night another 2,5 mg. It does help me sleep, may take a little while but download a meditation app, take your med and have warm almond milk and you’ll feel sleepy fast, breathing properly is extremely important so download an app that will guide you through
I’m still waiting for effects to kick in and be calmer and get my life back on track but I’ve done this before and I know that beginning any antidepressant is tough but worth the initial struggle !
Also, its a good idea to keep a journal of how you feel each day, this way you will see your progress more clearly!
Thank you so much xx
