I constantly have pain all over my body, especially in my chest, and shortness of breath. My doctor promises that it's just anxiety, but I can't seem to believe him. How can anxiety cause all this? I'm so miserable and I'm tired of pain.

Anxiety causes the chest wall muscles to tighten putting pressure on the diaphragm causing the shortness of breathe..I understand how tired we get of pain especially when it involves the chest. Try putting some warm wraps around your shoulders and find a comfortable chair with support for your back. Once you feel the heat allowing your shoulders to relax, start with your deep breathing exercise. As your breathing slows down, it should help calm you and open up those tight muscles in your chest.
Once that happens, your diaphragm will expand allowing you to breathe naturally.
Take care.
Hi I get pain all over my body as well. And I have anxiety
Dear lo2016 I am asthmatic so the symptoms you have were norm for me, however, I had real anxiety, couldnt even write my name as i was soo shaky. I was written off work since October when things got really bad, What is causing your anxiety. Mine was family related stressed? xxxx I am much better now,but still in a bad place.
I had the same thing for years. I knew that I had been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia over 25 years ago, so my doctor sent me to a Rheumatologist who put me on Lyrica. It eventually helped somewhat, but the doctor noticed my hands were swollen and ran more tests. After many tests, I was eventually diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. The medication was miraculous! That was three months ago, and the pain is back. I talk to RA groups who explain to me that it is sometimes necessary to add other meds when only one isn't enough. Also, RA you learn quickly that RA is a disease that needs constant management, as does any autoimmune disorder. Try to decide if your pain is muscular, joint, or both, then please talk to your doctor or find a doctor who will listen. I also have bipolar disorder and anxiety who I see a psych for. Those are separate issues. Good luck!
