What did you experience? If you don’t mind me asking

The medical profession are increasingly recognising that distress can cause bodily ills. I am told that distress about which one can do nothing to resolve goes inward and can cause all kinds of bodily pain and disorders. Hope this helps, it reassured me when I had this confirmed as I have long held this view as a layperson.

Thanks for your reply ! So do you think these pains could be caused by anxiety

That would be my thought, yes. I would advise you to see your GP, and ask the same question of him/her, to reassure yourself that there is no physical problem at the same time, which could be causing your anxiety. Karen's reply should help you too as your own problem could be muscle tension. Pain does cause anxiety to spiral, it's a bit like the chicken and egg question, which came first? !! Best to do something positive about it and see your GP.

I had this in my sternum for 8 months a couple of years back, with indigestion too. It was caused by muscle tension.

how did you get diagnosed with it? Thanks for answering

I went to the dr worrying that I had a growth or cancer as I was certain my sternum was sticking out more...don’t think it was though.

They sent me for an ultrasound but he said it was perfectly fine. So then on seeing the dr for a follow up they said they thought it was muscle issues.

I went to see a physio myself and she said my right shoulder was very tight and sitting a fair bit higher. She done around 20-30 minutes work on my shoulder, collar bones, even my legs, and it completely disappeared.

That’s amazing ! I’ve just booked in with a chiropractor so I’m hoping it will help
