Re.EMRD treatment

I am about to undertake EMDR, for PTSD. I am nervous, has anyone had this treatment please.

I have not had this treatment myself, but as a therapist I know about it and how it works.It is a relatively new method of treating various psychological disorders like anxiety, ptsd, ocd, grief and many other conditions.

So far, the results seem to be excellent in terms of overcoming the condition. The only thing I would say is that there have been no long term studies or follow ups of clients - it has only been in use since since the beginning of the 1990's on a large scale basis. Having said that it has a very high success rate so far. However, the 20 or studies used to determine rates of success focused mainly on ptsd, rather than a wider range of conditions.

There is nothing to be nervous about at all, and the treatment is very short term.

Hi, I hadn't heard of this treatment when I read your post. Any help you can get is definitely worth trying. Give it all you can and give it a chance. You just never know it may just be your key. If it doesn't work for you then you will rest easy knowing that you have it a good chance and tried your best and then you can look for some other kind of treatment. I have seen people say good things about it in my search to look into EMDR.
