Hello

I suffer with ocd have for the best part of 30 years or more

It is of course due to anxiety as our ocd is like a fear of doing whatever our rituals are to keep us safe or those around us

Mine comes in all different kinds of forms , one of the main one's is cleaning , I have to have the house spotless , stick to my routine , then if anyone upsets it then I get upset as well as finding it hard other than family to let anyone else in because I think they are bringing in germs and I am the same when I am out thinking I am getting germs from everything I touch or come in contact with outside

I also have rituals which can be having to put clothes exactly back on the hangers they came of in the same place in the wardrobe , when wrapping sandwiches I can rip several pieces of cling film till my ocd will say one piece will be ok the list of my smaller rituals goes on & on & on and it is a nightmare , very exhausting and behind all these things I do is the thought that something bad will happen to me or a loved one if I don't do them

But some good news I have had some therapy and even though it is not a quick fix I have slowly started to absorb what I have been taught which is mainly reversing my way of thinking and I am slowly dropping some small things of even though I have a long way to go but it is good to see that if you want to change even though you have to go slowly when you have bad ocd you can though , so not sure what or if any help you are getting but do ask for some :-)

Thank you it's very draining I agree there yeah my OCD is with germs and if a glass broken I get very OCD about thinking me my loved ones or someone could be harmed, then I get very disturbing intrusive thoughts where i have to act on them it's vile big time I no I wouldn't do anything bad x

I hope you look into getting some therapy it would really help :-) x

My ocd is I am constantly checking everything, I also cant throw things away that are no good to me I keep them even tho I have no use for them, I also have sensorimotor ocd where I am constantly thinking and monitering my breathing and swallowing the swallowing mostly bothers me when im eating and about to swallow food

I need to go to cbt aswell I just havent been able to make appointment yet people say the waiting lists are long to get first appointment thats probably why I havent phoned them yet
