There are times when I start to fall asleep and I'm awakened by, what feels like, my brain feeling like it's been zapped, sometime it makes me feel hella dizzy. When I happens it makes my anxiety go off the chart and I end up having a panic attack.
Has anyone else had this happen?

Does it feel like you've been startled awake? Something zaps your brain awake, you're dizzy and your anxiety is huge? Don't you just hate it? It's like I'm not allowed to sleep, this has to happen and the anxiety starts all over again and I'm forced very much awake and miserable. Not a full blown panic attack, but lots of anxiety restarting up again. An endless cycle with no rest in sight.
That used to be me, but isn't anymore. But I do understand what I described because I used to live it. I have GAD and take clonazepam every 8 hrs. GAD is a 24/7/365 disorder. I also take an antidepressant. Things are under control and I hope you're feeling much better, too.
I had that happen a few years ago almost every night or so for about a month or two straight, but like suesz it stopped over time. But I remember it zapping my heart area and liver area. Also used to get hypnic sleeping jolts that would wake me up right before I would fall asleep. Please look at what's causing your stress in your life and try your best to do what you can to fix it. I feel I'm worse now, those symptoms for me were three years ago.
Yep and I think I finally know why. Lyme disease. Which is totally different than what I used to experience with my anxiety in the past. Thought my anxiety had just gotten worse. Re visited some research I thought months ago and there are so many weird symptoms that match Lyme. Found a tick on my head one month after I got fired. Figured it was my depression and anxiety that was making me feel like another person. Now I think I know why.
