I wake up anxious every morning between 4 and 5 am. Heart racing. i have been struggling with this for 4 years. Started when my daughter and her kids moved out because of boyfriend. I have never been without them. Suffered such loneliness and financial problems. Take lorazepam off and on. I am 71 yrs old now

I am very sorry you are feeling this way Maggie. Is Lorzapam the only medication you take for this problem? I also have Lorzapam to take as needed. But I another medication I take daily too. Why do you think your anxiety is better in the evening? Do you enjoy something in the evening you don't normally do during the rest of the day? Maybe that is when you settle down from all your work around the house and errands - and finally are able to relax?

I have read alot about anxiety and i think my cortisol levels maybe way to high during day and level off to normal levels in evening. Dont know what to take to level out my cortisol during day. Any ideas?

Really is much as everyone says this on every post - Your doctor is the only one that safety help you decide on what to take. Everyone's physiology is different. I take 300mg Wellbutrin and Lorzapam as needed and normally helps a lot. But you should not suffer like you have been with your daily anxiety. Maybe ask your doctor if there is something else along with your as needed Lorzapam you can take. I hope you feel better soon.💐

Dr doesnt want me to even take lorazepam but it helps. Take only .5 mg daily. Tried lots of other meds and they made me feel worse. Lots of prayer, eexercise and healthy food helps. Has gotten better. Thanks for replying. Talking to someone who goes through it helps.

If you ever would like to talk privately you are very welcome to send me a private message. i find talking helps too. When you feel anxiety it is painful to be alone with no one to listen. Which makes a person feel even more anxiety! Please message me anytime you would like to talk. ❤️ I will write back the same day.🌻

Hi I happened to find your post and it made my ears prick up the waking can be due to your adrenals, relating to cortisol. I'm on the thyroid community. The adrenal s can do that waking up thing when you've been through a period of stress. I had it for a long time and used to eat a lot of cereal and toast as would be awake for up to 2 hours.! I'm now on medication from a private consultant because mine became a problem physically. ok still wake up at that time once or twice a week

My advice would be see if it settle s down on its own. If u wake and heart is racing and can't get back to sleep to get up make a herbal tea and eat a small amount as this is apparently why your body wakes you up. Or try cereal before bed and milk to keep reserves up. Have a read then try and get back to sleep. If you've had a change in your life and are gettin used to that it would explain the stress. Be gentle with yourself to give time to adjust to new arrangements at home.

Best wishes x

Hi Kafe1. I thought it might be my adrenals and i asked my GP and he said no without even checking my cortisol levels. I drink water, eat banana or yogurt , but heart still racing until i take lorazepam .5 mg. What dr did you go to. I deal with the physical feelings from 4am to about 6pm when they just stop. Thank you for your input. My wish is that you are completely free from this with your new medication

I saw a consultant who was treating my symptoms but there are so.e on the thyroid UK website who deal with adrenal issues. I've often not had much help from GP . I would say get your thyroid checked as that can give symptoms of anxiety and palpitations. I had extreme fatigue so have had a lot of physical health stuff. I did have overactive thyroid which gave me palpitations. So that's where my experience comes from.x

I too have had that heart racing feeling and I wouldn't want anyone to go through that. Many people don't understand me when I explain what I'm feeling because they have never experienced it. I feel so alone and lonely because I don't have many friends. It makes me feel even more depressed. I was curious and wanted to see if anyone in this support group lived close to me and I found out that you're just 9miles away from me while others were like 2,000 miles away.

Anyway, I hope you feel better 🐶
